Absolutely amazing short stay with a family. The hotel is spotless clean and the Covid-19 guidelines are implemented on each and every step. From the moment we got in and every step throughout The Hotel we made (including swimming pools) was pleasure and feeling safe. The staff is very well trained and so kind and polite, all the services (booking, pre arrival phone call, check in, swimming pool and safety measures around it (which for me was very doubtfull in a way how can someone be safe from Covid while at the swimming pool??),they absolutely are so very well organized in each and every moment and all you have to do is follow their advises and not be smarty and you will be fine. People really know what they are doing. We were with the baby and a teenager and I could not feel safer, in the room or anywhere else. Breakfast and service in the breakfast room, I could not praise more. This Hotel deserved my first place among all other Hotels I visited so far.

Martina scored 5 / 5 on 11/09/2020

food and room was great and it was the first place I felt really comfortable during the pandemic. I felt all the guidelines were being followed in a much more relaxing way that I had seen anywhere else

We had the most enjoyable stay at The Gleneagle Hotel last weekend. Everyone from the front desk to the cleaning staff were exceptional, so friendly and helpful. Though they work hard long hours, everyone had a smile on their face. We were on the top floor with amazing views of the lakes and mountains. We had 2nts b&b+d which was faultless, we also enjoyed the live entertainment too. We will be back and will most definitely use bargainbreaks.ie again. 5* all round

John scored 5 / 5 on 17/01/2018

Our family have stayed at the Gleneagle for many years now and have found it second to none as regards comfort and value for money. Due to recent events and the children growing up it seems that I will be travelling alone. They must be complimented on their entertainment program and the beautiful leisure centre. I am looking forward to returning there on the 28 January 18 Many thanks to all the staff for their help and understanding.

This hotel is perfect if you don't want to move from the hotel, you will have all the facilities here. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is that in the bar you cannot buy Coors Light or Heineken (the two most popular drinks) anymore. Apparently they do not have a contract with them anymore. Unfortunately this was a big turn off for me. They used always serve these drinks before. Otherwise everything else was perfect.

Jes scored 4 / 5 on 14/09/2015

Had a gorgeous room at the front of the hotel, with a view of a field of deer. The room had a balcony and was lovely & bright & airy. We paid €80 for the room including breakfast. Very happy.

We stayed in The Gleneagle Hotel in Killarney for 3 nights in May 2015. We stayed from Thursday to Sunday. We got a great deal with the Today FM breaks. €300 for 3 nights with breakfast each morning and an evening meal every evening. This was for my partner and I and our 2 children aged 3 and 4.5 years. We had a great time and have only good things to say about the hotel. Staff very friendly and helpful. Food was good. Rooms were spacious, clean and comfortable. Very child friendly. There is a pool and a play area for kiddies which was brilliant and our kids loved it. Really great hotel in a great location. Would highly recommend to anyone. Karen, Matthew, Matthew & Amber :-)

I give the Gleneagle Hotel 4 out of 5. I found the hotel staff very pleasent and there was enough facilities to entertain the kids such as the swimming pool, kids under 5 playing area and the hotel's location close to local amenties such as Muckross House and Torc Waterfall. I enjoyed the breakfast.

We stayed here for one night with 2 children and a toddler. This hotel has fantastic activities and entertainment for families. Most of the staff are extremely friendly our greeting was very welcoming. Restaurant food quite simple and nice.We would stay here again though just noted a few things our room was quite small for five of us and dated. Also late check in of 4pm bit inconvenient if you only have one night there and want to make most of your time. Found supplement in restaurant of 10 euro per child especially a toddler bit much for what he ate.Overall good value when you consider their entertainment and facilities.

Mary scored 4 / 5 on 19/02/2014

We stayed for 1 night- Saturday. I was very pleased with the hotel, great value for money. I found the staff very helpful and friendly. The bedrooms were spacious-a double and 2 twin beds in all 3 rooms we booked. The lobby area is nice and there are lots of different areas with couches for relaxing. We had the 2 course dinner as part of the deal. It was a nice meal for the price. I was impressed with the price of the house wines and we liked the red. The breakfast was excellent. We arrived at the busy time and there was a queue, but all was well organised. Great choice of everything and the hot food was freshly cooked. We loved the fruit salad and I liked the small bowels of seeds near the cereals. If I had to make a suggestion it would be that the back door to the bedrooms/ car park could do with freshening up -painting. The rest of the hotel is lovely. Enjoyed the pool and sauna. Thanks to all, esp the hostess in the restaurant, she is very good at her job.

Hillwalker scored 4 / 5 on 13/11/2013

very impressed with the new look Gleneagle Hotel .even though our room was not one that had been refurbished it was still lovely and comfortable. There are many really nice areas to sit have a coffee, read ,or just people watch, some with lovely open fires just like being at home!We got a nice surprise when we saw that it was free for residents to the inec acustic room where Don Baker was playing(saving us 30euro). The staff were very efficient and friendly and breakfast was very good, however it was missing some pastries which some visitors might like. The evening meal on the other hand was only average but good value at the same time. Its a great hotel to go to in winter or off peak time as there is so many facilities and sense of space which is a bonus when the weather is a issue. Also so good for family groups.

You have everything you need in the hotel and theres no need to leave it. We had dinner booked in the restaurant and the food was absolutely gorgeous. Great offers on the house wine too. Pool was also lovely and clean. And breakfast was delcious. I woud definitely recommend this hotel and will be returning soon.

Free shuttle from train station is a great plus as well great buzz in the backstage bar . great week end .

Michael scored 3 / 5 on 13/10/2013

We enjoyed our stay in the Gleneagle Hotel, the only disappointment was the fifth floor and the air conditioning at the end of the floor staying on until the early hours of the morning. It didn't affect my sleep but my wife found it difficult to get sleep. The room was spacious but would do with freshening up. The food and the service was otherwise very good along with the facilities. All in all I would still return for another visit sometime in the future

My family stayed here for the 2 nights B&B with dinner 1 night deal. We were very satisfied with the room, basic but comfortable and clean. My daughter had a great time in the pool and enjoyed her stay there. There was a darts tournament on at the time and it was a bit noisy late that night and you could hear every footsteps going by our room. The breakfast was excellent and we had a small misunderstanding with my dinner order but the staff were very good with sorting it out and gave us an extra dessert to make up for the small mistake. The bars were good and let my daughter and niece stay there till 10:30 as the were enjoying the music and weren't causing any bother to anyone. I can highly recommend this hotel to anyone with a family for a few nights stay. Thanks today tm for your great deal as we really enjoyed our stay.

Very enjoyable stay in the Gleneagle and very good value for money. Room was nice with lovely view from balcony. Great entertainment available - Nathan Carter in the ballroom and more music and dancing later in the Green Room. Breakfast was good also and staff very nice. On returning home I realised that I was overcharged as I had paid a deposit when booking and this was not deducted. I rang the hotel and a very nice gentleman on reception was able to rectify this and refunded me my deposit. Looking forward to staying here again.

Reception was a bit confusing when we arrived A table in the middle with a semi circular rope at either side We didn't know where to queue We tried in the middle at either side back to the middle and it all seemed to be wrong as people came from all over and were dealt with before us Having said that the staff were "extremely" good Professional and efficient when they actually got to us Our room was only ok Very dated and worn The radiator in the bathroom underneath the sink was so rusted it was revolting to look at The bath panel was swollen and falling apart from being constantly soaked You could hear people walking up and down the corridor like they were in the same room as us Noise from the bedrooms on either side of us was the same Went to the leisure centre and was told we had to go back to our room for our towels as none were available as they had been wiped out that day as it had been so busy We used our towels and then had to use our hand towels for our showers later Had dinner booked for seven thirty Arrived on time and was seated Then sat for ten minutes without anyone approaching us There was a wine list on the table and went to read it out of boredom more than anything else and just as i put my hand on it, it was grabbed from the table by a member of staff to hand to another customer who was being served at the table next to us We eventually got menus and ordered Our starters were ok My main course of cod was stone cold I couldn't eat it and couldn't get the waitress attention so my husband brought my plate to the man at the door who was seating people At this stage I didn't mind my dinner just being heated in the microwave once it was hot enough to eat It came back to me barely lukewarm We didn't stay for tea or coffee and we definitely did NOT leave a tip We went to see the FUREYs that night and didn't have to pay for it which eased the frustration we had been feeling after our experience in the restaurant Room was noisy when we went to bed from the corridors the rooms near us and from disco type music coming from God knows where We were dreading breakfast the following morning especially with the signs in the lifts giving Green Amber Red times to go to breakfast But found it OK Staff on checkout were again very nice We read that they are renovating but overall we wont be returning in the near future

We stayed for one Saturday night on the Dinner/B&B package in the Gleneagle, Killarney and we had a great time. The facilities were excellent and appropriate to their 3 Star Rating, the staff most professional and willing to please and the entertainment, food and service was top class. We cannot in all honestly provide a negative comment, we had such a pleasant time. The deal represented great value overall and in these recessionary times, this was most welcome. We will return again and the next time we will stay two nights. A hotel that offers this level of value should be supported. Well done Gleneagle and Lidle, it delivered exactly what was promised.

We stayed at the Gleneagle for 2 nights. I wish we hadn't. The rooms were far from what they are pictured on the site. I found them really drab and worn, walking to our room the carpet had been fixed with silver tape, which looked as though it had been there for quite some time. The bedspreads that should have been navy blue were light blue. We had to leave the window open as the room was very hot, but I was kept awake till 2.30 in the morning with the noise of a show that was going on in the complex adjacent to us. You could easily hear people walking down the hallway outside our room and you were able to listen to the television from the room beside us. The food felt mass produced and lacked any style. I was totally embarrassed that this was my fathers first time to Ireland and his first stay was at this hotel, I would not recommend this hotel at all, it needs total refurbishment and I wouldn't stay there again. The only positive thing that I can say about this hotel it's location in Killarney. Save your money and try another hotel

Tommy scored 3 / 5 on 20/04/2011

booked in at six fifteen and was told restaurant was booked out even though we had booked a bed breakfast and evening meal break had to go to restaurant supervisor ourselves without even bringing our bags from the car to make sure we got something to eat he was a thorough gentleman and sorted us out breakfast was good and the leisure centre was also very good lifts were very slow but the exercise up and down the stairs did us good the entertainment was excellent and it was a pity we didn't arrive in time to see the three tenors which we would have loved if we had known they were on overall we'd go again

Amy scored 2 / 5 on 17/02/2011

We spent one night in the gleneagle hotel, the kids facilities and rooms were lovely fab pool and very friendly staff in the activity centre. The restaurant however is disgraceful, the food was awful - we had a two course meal included in our stay our waitress insisted that night that our booking included a three course meal so we ordered two starters which were terrible and were charged for them when we checked out. We had the same receptionist for check in/out and she was very rude and unhelpful! Would not go back...

Honestly I liked the hotel. We were there with 2 kids (7 and 2). Rooms were clean and nice. Big dinning area and wide breakfast offer including Irish breakfast in B&B price. Good location, close to town center. Family friendly.

We found the hotel to be a bit "tired" and in need of some updating. However, the bed was comfortable, the bathroom clean and the food on the whole was good. A slight problem with desserts not being the same as on the menu. The staff in general were helpful and friendly. It was good to have entertainment on the premises although the standard of entertainment was not great. While we cannot rate the hotel as a 4 it is more than 3, so maybe 3.5 Lidl breaks are great value for money and we would definitely use them again. Terry Byrne

We had a great time at the hotel. The lidl break was extremly cheap and was the best value for money. I would recommend anyone to book through Lidl as it was the best deal on the internet.

this hotel will give you what it says. You get what you pay for. Menu will be a bit limited but the children will have a great time. Lovely pool and spacious foyer for kids to run and play. Rooms need a lick of paint and a bit of love but nice fresh bed linen. Overall a great little break.

Really enjoyed our stay in Gleneagle. Room was generous size and very clean. Pool was super and was the warmest we have ever been in which was good in early April. Staff very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was great with excellent choice from fruit, cereals to traditional fry-up. Location was good for town and national park. Car park a bit tight for spaces. Would definitely recommend to friends.

Really enjoyed our stay in the Gleneagle hotel, myself my husband and handicapped son. The food was excellent. The staff were most helpful. Night entertainment of music and dance just what we needed. My handicapped son had a wonderful time dancing as he loves music. I would strongly recommend it for a relaxing break and look forward to my next break in Killarney at the Gleneagle. Five Stars. Would highly recommend this hotel for anyone visiting the Killarney area. It scores top marks for quality, service and its welcoming atmosphere. They could not do enough for us and the food was excellent. We will definitely visit this hotel again. Top marks to the fantastic staff who were courteous and helpful to us throughout our visit.

The rooms were tired and could do with at least a steam cleaning or redecoration. The staff were excellent espically the kids club - which was excellent. The food (evening meal) was poor. Over cooked and bland. The house wine I suspect was not what we ordered on each night as it arrived opened and I suspect that it was being filled from a larger 'Vat' of what was very sub-standard house wine for a hotel (any hotel). The breakfast what like a school dinner or something from a army mess. The bar was very nice, comfortable and modern. I should of complained about the other points but well why bother..I just wont return that hurts more.

Really enjoyed our stay in the hotel, myself my husand and my son. The hotel has many great facilites and the rooms were a nice size. Lots of entertainment for kids. The evening meal included with our hotel deal was of great value and i would rate the food as a high standard and we thoroughly enjoyed our evening meals. The entertainment for the kids in the pool was very good too. the only two bad points of our stay was the noise level on the corridors at night time was pretty high, and there were no brochures on things to do in killarney left at the reception area for us to just pick up (we had to ask the receptionist if they had any). All leaflets left on display in reception were specifically for events happening in the hotel.
