Reviews for `TOWER HOTEL & LEISURE CENTRE`

Cell scored 4 / 5 on 27/03/2017

From beginning to end could not fault this hotel. party of 4 friday 24/3. The reception staff, bar staff top class. We ate in the restaurant and the waiting staff couldn't have been more helpful, two course meal included which was very enjoyable. Entertainment was brilliant. If you want good food, comfort and at a good price then make the Tower your choice. Highly recommended.

This is our second staying at the Tower Hotel. The staff are very nice and helpful and we very much enjoyed our stay. I was really delighted to be able to order the cold platter for breakfast as I do not like the buffet hot breakfast would definitely say this Hotel is between a 3 and 4 star. Dinner was very nice and the staff in the restaurant are very attentive and efficient. There was music in the bar that evening which was a bonus.

Norman scored 5 / 5 on 13/10/2016

We stayed here last weekend on a Saturday/Sunday night break. On arrival we were informed that we had been upgraded free of charge, what a lovely surprise. We had requested an early check-in to avail of the leisure centre etc and were accommodated without any problem. Our room (202) was lovely, a fair size and had all the bells and whistles you'd need on a 2 night stay. It faced out onto the main street and some might find the traffic a problem but we were just fine and never closed the window during our stay. The leisure centre is not overly big but it does the job and nothing was too much trouble. We did not dine in the hotel as we had arrangements made with friends so I can't comment on the evening fare. We did have breakfast there both mornings and the food was of a good quality, plentiful and hot. The staff are super friendly and did their best for everyone. My only gripe (and it's a very minor gripe) is the toaster. There's only one and it takes forever and even then you have to put the bread in a second time to have it actually toasted...and yes it was turned up to highest setting. It was busy on the Sunday morning and the queue for toast was long. It's an easy fix folks and hopefully it gets sorted. Other than that everything was super - the hotel is perfectly located to take advantage of all that Waterford has to offer. Go and enjoy, it's well worth it. Thanks to all the staff in the Tower for a lovely break. Good on ye.

We, as a couple, stayed for one night midweek. The staff were friendly and courteous. The room was clean (we had a lovely view of the air conditioner!), there was plenty soap and good towels. The breakfast was varied and tasty. The location is very central and there is a small carpark to the rear. I can't comment on the leisure centre or the restaurant, as we didn't use them, but the bar was comfortable and friendly. In the morning I noticed there was a kids club, useful if you wanted to go shopping..Overall I give it 4 stars and would recommend it.

We spend an enjoyable night in the Tower Hotel and Waterford in general. The staff were very friendly, the food was good and the facility was clean and tidy. Waterford was clean too with plenty of things to do for all the family. At the price, it's amazing value to get B&B and evening meal for just €51.50. Thanks Lidl.

The staff are very friendly and made us feel really welcome. The dinner and breakfast at the hotel were good and in particular the breakfast. We took a drive to Tramore and had a walk along the strand. We also walked the short distance from the hotel to Waterford Crystal and the Museum both of which were really good. The hotel is nicely situated. One issue is that the parking area to the rear of the hotel is cramped but we did manage to find a space. Overall however we had a great time and enjoyed our visit.

Tracy scored 5 / 5 on 20/04/2016

I never usually write reviews but I feel the Tower Hotel really deserves one. The entire hotel was lovely. The rooms were clean and comfortable with all the usual facilities. We had dinner in the hotels' restaurant that night which was served in great time and tasted great! The staff continuously checked on us to see if we needed anything else and were so friendly, laughing and joking throughout the evening. The next morning for breakfast, there was a huge variety to choose from and plenty of everything. I really enjoyed my stay in the Tower Hotel and will definitely go again. The only thing I can fault is the wifi wasn't great in the room (at the back of the hotel) but I wasn't there for much of the time so it wasn't really an issue.

The Tower Hotel is a great place to stay in the lovely city of Waterford, its so central for shopping, restaurants, pubs etc. Free parking in the hotel carpark is a bonus. The leisure facilities are great and the staff are extremely friendly and helpful. Will definitely stay again. :)

Smileyface scored 4 / 5 on 25/01/2016

Hotel very comfortable and breakfast good. Rooms were extremely warm and we were glad of the fans they had in the room. We booked 2 double rooms both for people with mobility difficulties. One room had a walk in shower which was great and a king size bed and the other was a smaller room with a double bed and a much smaller bathroom and a small shower . The larger bedroom had the tea making facilities on a high shelf which would have been difficult for a wheelchair user. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Good location for the town centre.

Caro scored 3 / 5 on 16/12/2015

Advised we were getting upgraded to a quieter room when we were booked in, however the noise levels were quite high here also. Shower was broken, bed sheets are pretty worn, need to be replaced. Dinner was lovely, the size of desert was very small, however what we ate was lovely. Breakfast was ok, nothing wrong with it, just not much taste to it, and no pastries. Staff were extremely friendly and they had a child entertainer in lobby over the weekends. Leisure staff were extremely helpful by offering a family changing room and you can see they were making sure all their pool maintenance checks were been carried out, pool could do with been another few degrees warmer. Have stayed in hotel in the past and probably will again in the future as its quite central and free carparking.

Our stay at the Tower hotel was a complete disappointment. The room was in acquitted was too small and looked out on dirty bins. Towels in room were worn, to be honest I have thrown out better. It was a big job to get extra. The bed was so uncomfortable we were so tired the next day with no sleep. When we checked out they tried to charge us 80euro more. This bathroom was a mess. Unable to take a comfortable shower, nearly took my eye out with the sink. We ran out of this totally dysfunctional hotel, what a waste of money going to stay here.

Stayed here for 4 days and enjoyed the experience-The staff were very helpful and looked after us very well-The dining room staff were particularly top class and the dining room manager made our experience a memorable one-any query was listened to and dealt with-the location in the heart of the city was great-the extra facilities such as massage, etc, were a nice bonus-the bar was airy and comfortable . Thanks Sean and Mary Meehan

Breakfast served up to 11 am on weekends which really was great made the stay all the more relaxing. Buffet breakfast very nice with plenty of variety. Touring scored 4 / 5 on 29/05/2014

Good Hotel and good helpful staff. I did get fed up though with the same root vegetables every day. The Hotel WiFi extremely slow that weekend and to make matters worse I was given an incorrect printed code on the Friday. On Saturday morning I got the correct code from a guest who had also being given an incorrect code. The Senior female Receptionist was not at all helpful and maybe even rude when I approached her about my WiFi problems. Overall a good Hotel to stay in and would book again.

we had an excellant stay in the Tower,we were celebrating a birthday and the staff couldn't have been nicer, I would highly recommend the hotel and look forward to returning, the rooms have all been refurbished and are very clean and modern. The hotel is in a great location and is walking distance to shops etc, also its a great base to have to explore the area, the only negative is the spa isn;t very luxurious!

Spend a night in the hotel with my 10 year old niece. Well situated hotel, easy walking access to all shopping and local history sites. Free car parking also a plus. Our room was nice and spacious. The staff were very friendly and check in/ check out very fast. Leisure facilities are nice but dressing room could do with an update. We had a great visit and would come back again.

The choice of food for dinner and breakfast was great. We will be back.

I was at the tower st patricks wend, check in was quick and friendly staff. The room was lovely and spotless from the smell i would say it was newly renovated, it was very warm in room that wend had to leave window open and in bar that night had to ask for aircon to be put on which was done. Breakfast was lovely and plenty of it. Only a little thing the shelve with tea making facilities was a high, lovely to see mugs but couldn't see how much water i was putting in could get scaled if not carefull and i am tall could see it a problem for some one smaller in height. Had a lovely stay would highly recommend the tower hotel will be back soon. Also location is great.

My friend and I booked into the Tower as a special treat, an overnight in historical Waterford, and dinner at the hotel. the room I was put into first was small and very unappealing, with 2 small miserable looking beds! I immediately contacted reception as I felt this would not be pleasurable to stay in at all. It was a corporate room. The receptionist was lovely, chatty and understanding. She took me to a far superior room on the top floor corner (310), overlooking the river. she said that this was also a corporate room, it was much more cheerful and light, the view lovely. It was also very quiet all through the night. We had a lovely leisurely meal, drinks afterwards in the lively bar, and used the gym/pool which are smallish but serviceable. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and would definitely return. All of the staff were friendly and helpful. The location cannot be beat, as you have onsite parking, and are literally across the road from 3 splendid museums, and very close to Waterford Crystal. There is a 20 euro ticket for all four attractions which is well worth doing. The Theatre Royale is also across the road and seems to be very enticing.

Staff were all very good, friendly and always very polite, however the first room I was given had a leak through the roof and water was dripping down from the ceiling onto the bed. After reporting this to the reception I was promptly moved to another room which was huge and very comfortable. A lot of noise from outside from a lorry which was unblocking drains from the large amounts of rain that had fallen, that went on until about 11.30 (was in bed early as I was attending a conference in the hotel the following day), after that I slept very well all night. Breakfast was good but lacked a bit of fresh fruit.

Orla scored 2 / 5 on 20/03/2013

We checked in for a 2 night stay on Saturday 16th March. The lady at reception asked us to take a seat while she checked if our room was ready. After some time (and numerous other couples checking in and going straight to their rooms), the same lady approached us to ask if we were waiting on a room, when I said that we were, she asked for our name again, she finally came back with our keycard. We went upstairs to our room, decor in the hallways was dull but am not even complaining about that! I had asked when making the reservation if we could have a relatively quiet room overlooking the quay. I understand that it is not always possible to meet customer's request but I didn't expect to be looking out at another wall of the hotel only feet from our window and onto the rooftop of part of the hotel. We had made reservations for the restaurant that evening, we both ordered our starters and main course. I had asked for the sauce to be on the side of my main course, it arrived with the sauce on the plate, this is an easy mistake and not one I was put out by, I just asked for it to be changed. While I was waiting on my main course, I noticed there was very little veg on my partners plate so when the waitress returned with my meal I asked for extra veg. I just want to clarify that I do not have a particularly big appetite but I felt that the one scoop of mashed potato and one scoop of mashed carrott/parsnip that was served with the main course was most inadequate. Would 2 scoops of mash not be the norm? We ate in the restaurant again on the second night. Again we ordered our starters and main course. I didn't think to ask for extra potato/veg when being served my main meal and again the one scoop of mashed potato and one scoop of veg (again mashed carrott/parsnip - same veg 2 night's running is not very acceptable!) appeared. This night, I didn't get the chance to ask for more veg as I had finished my meal before anyone approached us to ask if everything was okay. To be fair, the food we got was tasty, it just appeared to be in short supply! When we went to checkout on the Monday, literally when I handed in the keycard I was told, that's fine. I wasn't asked if I'd enjoyed my stay, if everything was okay or any other question that would have allowed me give feedback. I had been looking forward to this break since I'd booked it the previous November and unfortunately I ended up being most disappointed. It felt that our break had been paid for, the hotel had our money and as such they didn't care as to the service we got beyond that. It is with regret that I don't think I could recommend the Tower Hotel for future visits of Waterford City. In ways I feel deprived of a true Tower experience as it had initially come highly recommended from our friends but I would have severe reservation about forking out hard earned cash for the poor service we received at the weekend. OF

My self and my three sisters stayed in The Tower Hotel, Waterford on Saturday 20th November. We had booked it as a Lidl break and had travelled down by train. From the moment we arrived at reception we were treated with the utmost kindness and courtesy I had a hand operation on the Tuesday before and my hand was strapped and was given VIp treatment. We spent the afternnon shopping and My sisters made use of the leisure centre and we dined later that eveing. The food was excellent and we spent the remainder of the night in the lounge with a lovely gentleman entertaining us with his singing and music and he got people up to sing. The rooms were of a very high standard and breakfast the next morning had lived up to our evening meal the night before. The LIDL break is excellent value for %u20AC49.00 per night it is our second one to take and we will be going again it is what we need it these times of doom and gloom. My rating would be *****

The stay was very good and pleasant. The hotel location is perfect for exploring the city and the night life. The rooms were nice and clean. Dinner in the restaurant was delicious. SPA treatment was a little bit disappointing as the back massage took place in one of the guest rooms and you could hear a constant banging of doors and people talking in the corridor, which wasn't very relaxing. Other than that I enjoyed my stay and would rate the hotel at 4 out of 5.
