Brilliant short break in lawlors. Very central and staff very welcoming and professional. Highly recommend the hotel and the restaurant deserves a gold star for service and quality of the food. Would stay again

Hi My wife and I stayed at Lawlors Hotel for one night. It was atrocious. I have never experienced standards so low. The beds were clean and the towels in the room clean, but every thing else was not. From dust on the lampshades to black mould on the walls and ceiling. The shower had not been cleaned for a long time. Toilet rolls sitting on the window sill, no place else to put them. The tiny sink would have been appropriate for an under stairs cloakroom. The creaking floor boards were just like the mattress no support. The smell of cigarette smoke greeted us in the corridors on our way to room 107. We decided to go to breakfast, table was wet, cups dirty, no spoons to use. All cereals were open, lots of large jugs of milk and juices uncovered. Flies were walking on the furniture. Chased a few away from our table. Tea/ Coffee was hot. Mushrooms given as part of breakfast, not tomato as suggested on the tardy laminated menu. Poor quality food. Toast and brown bread with breakfast, Brown bread was not fresh, it was a few days old. No management to be seen. Our recommendation; Do not send anyone there. We have used Lidl Breaks before and all hotels were very good. Lawlors was the exception. No- Star Rating

Outdated and filthy, disinterested staff. Would not recommend under any circumstances.

Our room was in a terrible location. We had to take the elevator to the 1st floor, and then climb two flights of stairs in a very dimly lit, dirty area. The room was not accessible by elevator. When we arrived the TV wasn't working (it was fixed) and the room was so hot, we had to request a fan. The evening meal was disappointing. I order steak on the stone, however it arrived on the plate. It was very chewy. Live music was advertised in the bar, starting at 9pm. We waited until 9:50pm and there was no band so we went to bed. The breakfast was fantastic. I would not stay in the hotel again.

The hotel was fine for a short break and the staff were lovely. We had a good spacious room and the bed was very comfortable. We felt the hotel needed money spent on it. The decor was very tired. The carpets in the common areas were worn and dated and the main dining room where we had our breakfast needed updating. It was dark and would benefit from a fresh coat of paint. The crockery didn't match so saucers didn't fit the cups, etc. There was no fresh fruit on the breakfast menu. There was no hotel information manual in our bedroom which was a bit strange. Service in the bar on the first night was inadequate. We were on holidays so that was not a problem for us but it could be for somebody else. The curtains in some areas were in need of upgrading. Staff were really helpful, courteous and professional. The hotel is in a great town with a good location and has plenty of potential but it needs an injection of cash.

Hi, stayed at Lawlors for lidl weekend break in Dungarvan, Waterford. Nice room, pleasant staff, good food. The bar was lively on friday night as there were about 40frFrench tourist. Saturday night we used the restaurant again as food had been good, fish chowder etc. The bar had Ceilie music so we split up town and found a pub on the square, very friendly. We had a great time and would highly recommendthis break. Cheers Dec and Phil.

Lawlors in Dungarvan is an old building. Reception area is bright and noisy, it's near the bar. We were told we had a smoking room but it did not have an ashtray. We asked at reception but it never arrived! Room was small but ok. T.v would not work. Halls were very narrow and floors creaked!!! Breakfast was good except for the very watery orange juice.

We arrived on Friday 20th September and checked in for 2 nights as it was our anniversary on Saturday. We brought our bags into the room on the first floor and noticed that the bathroom ceiling tiles were not in place and insulation was showing. Went to reception and informed them and we were given a replacement room which was fine. The receptionist told us that we would have a different room for the Saturday night and after breakfast on Saturday morning we moved to our new room. This room was on the third floor and was a nice room. As it was our anniversary, a complimentary bottle of white wine was left in our room. The breakfast was very good and was amble compared to some hotels.

Very friendly staff and polite at all times. Rooms basic but functional.I do think they need to improve the soap dispensers in the shower area. Breakfast was good.Great staff. Dining area a little cramped but wheelchair users seemed to be looked after. Bar staff great but the entertainment ended at 11pm.Too early.Midnight would be perfect.

the hotel is a great location, near the town, walking distance to shops, pubs etc.bar food ok but the breakfast left alot to be desired, fresh fruit was not available and full irish was luke warm, the room could do with a massive make over and where the window is the outside was discusting cigerrete ends outside ,filty it was,who ever painted the door inside should never be allowed near paint again,if that paint job was done in my house i wouldnt pay him or her, finally i thought some of the staff could be a bit more friendly,my wife,my son and myself left a good sum of money besides the bed and breakfast deal in the hotel but the room was awful and nobody ask us was everything all right, disappointing,we go away every 8 to 10 weeks on weekend breaks all over the country and this hotel and another we were in in killaloe 5 weeks ago where lets just say we wont be back, thanking you, p phelan

Was put in Room 108. Honesty I can say it was the smallest room I ever stayed in my life. It was freezing cold and very old fashioned. The hallway very narrow. The girls in reception were lovely and the breakfast was great but they really need to add a lick of paint to the place.

Excellent food and service.

Olive scored 2 / 5 on 01/05/2012

Stayed in this hotel last week. Was very disappointed. We checked in and was put in a room like an attic. The floor boards creaked, the tv didn't work, the door wouldn't lock and there were holes in the light fittings in the bathroom. We requested a different room and got one that was a bit better. Overall. the hotel badly needs a revamp, Musty smell around all the time and a smell of grease in the dining area. Would not reccommend to a friend and would never stay there again.

The receptionest was really nice and helpful. The bedrooms were so dated it wasnt funny. The view fom our netted window was another netted bedroom window, with loads of wires hanging across between the two. The bedroom itself was clean but the carpet was ancient and the boards squeaked underfoot as you walked. As other guests passed outside our door it felt as they were in the bedroom with us, as it did when the guests in the next bedroom walked or talked. The location of the hotel is great but is being let down by the bedrooms. The bar is modern so why not extend this to the rest of the hotel . They seem to have bus loads of unsuspecting tourists block booked so i guess thats how they manage to survive because locals would not return to their accommadation.

Sull2000 scored 3 / 5 on 17/04/2012

it was ok, the reception/bar was good, the food was good. The rooms however were dated, our room only had one bulb working on the ceiling, and the temerature of the water in the shower couldn't be adjusted. The throw on the end of the bed had stains all over it- God knows what and the walls are like paper as the noise we heard from other guests coming in at 3 and 4 am was very loud. I guess what i am saying is that it was ok for the price but i would't rush back there.
