I stayed in the Shamrock Lodge Hotel last weekend the of 12th of July 2014 and I really can't say enough for this hotel. We were staying in this hotel as a group of 9 adults and 5 children as a weekend get away. I cant speak highly enough of the hotel or their staff who were all exceptional. The staff were so friendly and couteous and could not do enough for you. We had the evening meal on Saturday evening and the food and service were both brilliant. The breakfast on Sunday morning was also of a very high quality with beans and mushrooms also served along with your normal sausage, rasher, pudding eggs and tomatoes. Entertainment was very enjoyable on the saturday night with an eceptionally talented singer and guitar player providing this service. There is a kids playground directly across the road from the hotel which was great for the kids on the saturday evening and Sunday Morning. So all in all I personally and all my family members would most definetly recomend this hotel for a nice break away. My star rating would be 9 out of 10

A group of ten ladies stayed here on a Lidl Break in July. We were impressed with this hotel who has a good name of Wedding also. Gardens are lovely, The rooms were lovely and beds comfortable. Good pressure water in bathrooms. Tea and coffee facilities in room etc. Staff very attentive. Food was lovely and served very quickly. The Hotel is located about 5 mins walk from Town, very convenient. Would stay here again. Music on in Bar on Saturday night.

The Shamrock Lodge Hotel is a lovely Hotel. It is easy to find, quite central, plenty of parking and nicely decorated. All the staff we met during our stay were lovely. My husband and I were there for a couples break, 1 night b&b and dinner in the restaurant. We were extremely impressed with our room, it was very stylish, contained everything we would expect and the bed was huge and very comfortable. The restaurant was less impressive, more like a dinning room with paper table cloths and menus printed on A4 sheets of paper but the food and service was very good. The bar area was nice and it was busy, lots of people eating there, it had a good atmosphere and entertainment. We got a taxi too and from the town centre only E5 each way but you could walk there easily. We ate a lovely breakfast in our room, the delivery charge of E7 per plate was a bit steep I thought. We really enjoyed our stay and I would defiantly recommend the Hotel.

The hotel was lovely, clean, bright, spacious and warm. The staff were al very nice and very helpful. However we were there for a relaxing weekend, a quiet night in to catch up and we were put in a room over the function room!! There was a Christmas party on and the music went on till 3am and then the people returning to their rooms took another 30 minutes. All in all we didn't get to relax and we we were all wrecked tired the next day. Other than that it was a very pleasant experience - just make sure you are a long way away from the function room.

stayed in shamrock lodge for one night with 2 friends recently and was impressed with hotel. Room was spacious and clean, and staff were very helpful and friendly, food was good too. The only problem was it was difficult to find hotel as sign posts were not easy to see in dark but would like to go back to this hotel again.

Good location. Staff were very friendly and courteous. Had a drink in the bar at night and found it very pleasant. Did not like the set up for breakfast. People had to queue for a cooked breakfast and even then some were waiting for a particular item to be brought out from the kitchen. The cereal and juice area was then blocked by this queue. There was also a very poor selection of cold meats and bread. MCH

Myself and two work collegues stayed here on sun 2nd dec Room was locely and warm and welcomining although we switched off the heater in the room It was very warm during the night Had some bar food in the front bar which was good and as we were going to a conference in the sheraton the receptionist arranged for us to have breakfast at 7 Overall we enjoyed our stay the only problem we had was geting to it as we werent familiar with Athlone and the sat nav sent us to Clonoowen road about 20 mins outside of Athlone

We stayed here last weekend and had a very relaxing break. staff were friendly, in particular the breakfast staff, breakfast was lovely, great selection available. we ate in the restaurant on the Saturday and again the food was good, I felt cold in the restaurant, maybe the heat wasn't on. Our room was clean, warm and comfortable however the hallway outside our room could have done with a hoover. If I stayed again I would definitely request an upstairs room as ours was looking into the back yard of the hotel. Overall a very good offer with Lidl breaks. We will be using it again later in the year for another weekend.

Hotel was lovely, rooms where very spacious and modern. The receptionist was extremely friendly and welcoming. The restaurant staff where also very friendly. The menu was very limited and the food was ok. The breakfast was very bad. Nothing available a very long wait before more the food was replenished. No bread. The young staff did their very best but the one noticable thing was we never saw a duty manager during our stay? The bar was excellent and the entertainment was the best we had seen in a long time. Great value on the Lidl Breaks.

Very well furnished hotel and rooms are spacious and comfortable. Evening meal was excellent and breakfast was good but there were one or two service issues on breakfast as they were particularly busy at this time

Timmy scored 3 / 5 on 08/02/2012

I stayed there for two nights with my girlfriend. The breakfast was nice; they had a good selection available. The hotel was quite considering the amount of people staying there that weekend. The room was ok although the cleanness was not up to standard. A couch in the room had various stains on it. Even a light hearted clean would have got some of them out, so it certainly had not been cleaned in a while. In the wardrobe a pair or men’s underwear was located on the top self along with quite a bit of dust, which shows that nobody had cleaned it in a while and that no supervisor had carried out a spot check on the room. Other than that it’s a nice hotel with friendly staff.

We had a lovely weekend break at the Shamrock Lodge, The hotel was spotless and the room was big, clean and warm and modern, (although not a nice view as our room overlooked the service yard.)...however other than that it was great. At breakfast there was a great selection of fresh fruit, pastries, juices, and a full cooked selection also.. .. Dinner in the Bar was also excellent and freshly cooked....The staff were all really welcoming and friendly and this was nice to see. when we asked for more coffee and milk for our room, it was delivered in 5 min's.. The hotel is only a few minutes walk from the town. Overall a great place to stay, and at a great price with the Lidl January sale we got a bargain weekend. We will return for sure. Thanks.

I would recommend this hotel if taking a break in the westmeath area. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The rooms are large, clean and well laid out and cleaned every day. The buffet breakfast gives great choice and value. I stayed in the hotel for a wedding, through a Lidl break and I was very pleased with the price and the value I got for my money. The quality of the meal for the wedding was excellent also.

Mwk scored 3 / 5 on 15/07/2011

Excellent value and within walking distance of the town. The hotel was quiet during our stay. We had a triple room which was quite spacious, beds were fresh and clean and there were plenty of towels. The staff were pleasent and very helpful. We had one evening meal in the bar, it was good value a bit much for our appetites. Overall we enjoyed our stay.

Wexford scored 3 / 5 on 10/06/2011

The Shamrock Lodge I am afraid to say, is a bit like faulty towers. Firstly the rooms are excellent no complaint there, very comfortable and clean. Unfortunatly some of the public areas are very poor, we attended a christening there and the room that we had the meal in had a stream of water coming from the ceiling, the service was appauling, it just took for ever, the staff were all very nice but really under presssure as there was another christening party there at the same time, food was fine once we eventually got it. Over all considering the price we paid with lidl breaks it is good value for money.

We stayed Friday 14th January 2011 for 1 night for a special celebration . We asked for the best possible room at the rate we booked and were delighted to be upgraded to a 2 bedroom apartment ! As well as 2 bedrooms we had 2 ensuite bathrooms , a hallway and a sitting room/kitchen with a convertible sofa bed , kettle , fridge and microwave . It was lovely and warm and only a couple of steps from the main hotel along a covered walkway .The bed was pristine white and very comfortable . There was plenty of tea , coffee , sugar and milk in the kitchen area .Breakfast was fine even though the fry was obviously reheated but that was probably our own fault as we didnt come to the dining room until just before the end at 11 am ! Plenty of juice , fresh fruit , cereal , croissants and rolls otherwise .The reception staff were friendly and helpful . All in all , a great place to stay and very reasonable when in Athlone .

Lovely hotel inside including the rooms, doesnt look great from outside though. Breakfast was ok, nothing special, very expensive to get it delivered to your room - (%u20AC7 each). Staff very helpful would definetly recommend it as a good value money break, will definetly go back.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We had read some negative reviews online and were a bit wary but there was absolutely no need to be. The room was fine, clean and met all of our needs. Dinner was very nice and breakfast was also good. The staff were universally friendly and helpful. Finally the manager made a very generous gesture in advance of what he felt might be some disturbance to our sleep. In the event we both had a very peaceful night's sleep. In summary I have no hesitation in recommending the Shamrock Lodge.
