3.5 Stars. Nice clean, comfortable hotel, great for a family getaway, large reception area to sit down and have a coffee, bar spacious and inviting to all, great pool for all ages. Rooms decent. Bar food was disappointing and too expensive for the quality, so we just had breakfast each day, which was fine, after first evening we found elsewhere in Westport for evening meals, which were all lovely,, I would return with my family.

Stayed in Westport Woods for 2 nights. Check in was good and Reception staff friendly enough. The room was a little dated and could do with being revamped but clean. Breakfast times was listed for 8am start however, when we went down at around 8.20am they did not have all the hot food out. We booked the restaurant for dinner that evening which was included in our package. We were shown to our seats and after some time had to ask the restaurant manager for bread which we did not receive and had to ask a second time and eventually received that. We also ordered wine and again had to ask a second time for our wine. The starter was lacking in sauce and again we had to ask for more sauce. The main course was ok but I would not rush back to the restaurant again. We went to the bar for a drink later and asked for a dash of lemonade with vodka but we are still waiting for the dash!! we had to go and buy a bottle of mixer. Bar staff not friendly at all.

This hotel is fine, could do with a revamp as the room we stayed in had a bit of a musty smell in it. Bit cold in the room too. Bit outdated. More suitable for hens and stags. Seemed to be a stag there the night we stayed and could hear shouting at some stage in the night as they were heading down the corridor. Staff were friendly. Breakfast was fine, had good selection. Was fine for an overnight stay. Would not be rushing back to this one.

Although we arrived early one of our rooms was ready so we were able to check in. The rooms were well equipped, clean and comfy. The staff were very helpful especially when one of our party became ill. Check out was painless too.

We found the Hotel as advertised and have stayed here before too. On a Lidl break cost basis it presents great value for money and we could find no reason for any serious complaints. We have stayed at numerous hotels throughout Europe and the fact we return to Westport Woods kinda says it all. Expect what is advertised and you won't be disappointed. Staff are very friendly and helpful too.

Greg scored 4 / 5 on 05/06/2016

The hotel was very easy to find once you realised that Westport has a one way system. The grounds are beautiful and there's plenty of parking on both sides of the entrance. The reception is very bright and airy. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room had all modern conveniences and was very comfortable and the shower in the bathroom was easily managed. My only bone of contention was that there was no snacks to buy in the bar and the barman/manager said he would try to get us some cheese and crackers but forgot about us - but not a major issue. I would certainly go back again.

I would highly recommend this hotel to anybody asking to stay in Westport. The staff were terrific and i couldn't compliment the restaurant staff highly enough. We had an evening meal in the restaurant and was one of the best meals i had in a long time. thoroughly enjoyed our stay and definitely will be back

Fee scored 4 / 5 on 20/10/2015

We stayed in this hotel for a 2 night stay with one evening meal. When we arrived the hotel parking was quite busy which was a good sign! We were given a room on the ground floor, it was big, windows couldn't really be opened because they were very big and on the ground floor, would be easy for someone to get in! Tv had a good few stations but reception was only really good on one/two so we couldn't watch the rest. the bathroom decor was a little out dated but it had toiletries, and was clean and practical! The bed was extremely comfortable! best bed in a hotel I've stayed in in a long time! i did find it very hard to open the room door from the outside but that was probably just me! We had dinner on the first night in the hotel, while the choice is very limited (restaurant) the food was delicious and portions were very big, we went for the fillet steak and it was cooked just as we asked. the staff in the restaurant were very helpful also. we had breakfast both mornings and the buffet has a good selection, hot food, cereals, fruits and breads. we enjoyed our breakfast both days! the hotel is a bit of a walk from the town, we didn't walk it but coming back from the town it is up a steep hill! we didn't use the leisure club so i cannot comment on that. overall we would definitely stay in this hotel again, it was very good value for money for a lovely town like westport!

Bernadette scored 3 / 5 on 25/09/2015

Hotel location good, nice grounds. The hotel was very comfortable and good facilities. Food could be improved on. Dinner menu very basic with little flavour and imagination. Breakfast was a workout in itself as one had to ask for items such as eggs, no sauces or jams on the table, by the time you discovered this you did not feel like getting up again. I felt sorry for some of the elderly in the hotel, whom I met out walking, as they did not ask the staff for the basic items. Staff overall friendly and helpful but the morning restaurant staff gave the impression that the guests were a bit of an inconvenience.

Lorna scored 5 / 5 on 21/09/2015

We went on a family break for 3 days. I had 2 kids under 2. The staff went out of there way to help us. They were very friendly. We ended staying another 2 days as we enjoyed it so much.

Chris scored 3 / 5 on 13/09/2015

This hotel is very well situated between the harbour and the town of Westport..modern and clean with good facilities (pool, jacuzzi, sauna). We stayed 2 nights and enjoyed our stay even though there were a few minuses. Breakfast was cold (we were in dining room at 9.30 and 10.00 and breakfast was being served until 11.00) Also they were out of eggs when I got there on the first morning...mentioned to one of the staff but never came back. Also, staff seemed somehow dour and unhappy...not a smile ...except for one gentleman in the dining room on our second morning who was friend,y and chatty.

Stamfie scored 3 / 5 on 29/06/2015

Everything was great except for the tour groups. Had to wait some time for a hot breakfast as the tour groups had been in ahead of us and the staff could not keep the food topped up. We holiday in Ireland all the time and it is the likes of us who kept the hotel business going through the hard times, but we seem to suffer when the tour groups are in town.

we had a lovely pleasant weekend and the breakfast was lovel, and it was also served until eleven am which i thought was great. Anything we wanted we just had to ask and we wetre granted immediatly. The room was lovely plenty of space and storage. On one of the nights we tried the barfood and found it nice good size portions. its about 1k into town handy enough walk but not so hany coming back as it is a hilly walk. Its worth it to visit Matt Molloys and enjoy the great sing song live music and its like being in somebody's front room brilliant. Any i love westport and i imagine i will go again before too long. All in all well recommended good experience.

Very enjoyable weekend at the Hotel. A 20 minute walk uphill into the town. Room was big and perfect for 2 adults and 2 children. The Hotel was recently refurbished and it is obvious and place is in great condition. Pool was good fun with kids. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Would have given 4 stars but fir a few niggles. Food in restaurant was carvery at best and there were very high supplements for some options. Had Ceasar Salad and bacon was obviously left over from breakfast. Breakfast was standard Irish and decent but let down by stale bread left over from dinner. All in all we really enjoyed our weekend and at these prices it was good value and with a little bit attention to detail could be excellent.

Lovely hotel in beautiful surroundings. The double bed in our room was very uncomfortable and hard ..we actually had to sleep in the single beds to get a nights sleep. The food was just OK. Breakfast was cold and served on hot plates. Dinner menu left a lot to be desired ..not a great choice at all.

We had a wonderful 1 night stay in the Westport Woods last Saturday night. There was 8 adults and 2 children in our group. We were celebrating one of the groups special birthday. We couldn't have been happier. From beginning to end we had fun. Of course Westport is a buzzing town and with ages in group varieng between 10 and 80 everybody was happy. Our rooms were perfect with very high standards of cleanliness and space. The beds were comfy and spacious. The evening meal was wonderfully presented and tasty with plenty of choices to suit all tastes. Breakfast was lovely and I took particular note of the dining room and how airy and welcoming it was. There was every type of breakfast you could imagine available. Lastly, I must mention the staff who were friendly and helpful in all areas, they need to be commended. Very well done

Patsy scored 4 / 5 on 18/06/2014

Hotel set in beautiful tranquil setting. Room was spacious for 2 people. The double bed was small and should have been queen or kingsize for a double room. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast and dinner were acceptable. Swimming pool was a good size. Overall an excellent deal and would definitely stay again.

Becca scored 3 / 5 on 17/06/2014

The room was grand, good matress, good size of room, water however was not really hot. Dinner was somewhat noisy (the second time staying in this hotel where things were slightly too noisy - before it was a boxing competition and the changing rooms where beside the room I stayed in) because a whole group of teenagers and their camp counsellors were having dinner there (if I want school trip atmosphere I would stay in a hostel!). The breakfast wasn't great at all: plenty of egg shells worked into the fried egg (made interesting crunching noises while eating), sausages that were not really fried but that were only shown a frying pan very briefly (had the same experience on a previous stay in that hotel. Then I thought it was just a one time off thing. Doesn't seem to be though...).

This hotel is in a nice part of Westport town, close to Westport house. It is a large hotel with a nice modern decor and great gardens around it. Parking was free with plenty of it and the staff were nice an welcoming when we arrived. We travelled with two small children and they gave us a nice large family room which we were very impressed with. There was a great selection for breakfast and dinner was very nice also. The swimming pool was well kept with nice toddler and children swimming pool. I would recommend this hotel to any family it was excellent value.

We enjoyed our stay of two nights. The evening meals were very good indeed with with a good choice. A loud TV somewhat interfered with the ambience. The breakfast choice of cereals, juices, yoghurt etc was extensive and of good quality but the full Irish breakfast (fry) was quite dried up and not the best. Likewise a good cup of coffee was impossible to obtain. The staff were friendly and nothing was a bother. We used the swimming pool which is as the photo, a good size and very pleasant to swim in with sauna and steam room adjacent. Although well used the pool and changing facilities were very clean. Lots to do in the surrounding area even when it's raining. Apart from the few negatives we enjoyed our stay and would go back to the hotel again.

We have just spent the weekend in Westport Woods Hotel. We have two kids aged 5 and 2 1/2. We really enjoyed our stay. The kids just loved the pool and thankfully there was an adequate area for the kids to enjoy. The room was clean and comfortable and our food was great. Our only downfall would have been the noise at night when other parties came in late as the soundproofing wasn't great. All in all it was very enjoyable!!

I stayed here with a group of women for a two night weekend break. The hotel could not have been more helpful, I couldn't get a triple room on the web page for the 2DBB option. I phoned the hotel and the women I spoke to sorted that out for me. I got a phone call to confirm my booking a couple of days beforehand. I had read reviews on tripadvisor and I was concerned about the hotel but truthfully it was a fantastic weekend. Our triple interconnecting rooms worked a treat, they were clean and warm and the beds were so comfortable. Breakfast was plentiful and served till 11am. Dinner was nice too, such wonderful value. I did not try the pool myself but several of the girls did and had good things to say. I would definitely return again to Westport Woods Hotel.

Overall it was a bit of a dissapointing stay! During our stay, a teenager boxing camp and competition took place in the hotel. We were put on the same hallway as some of the teenagers, which led to a certain amount of noise in the hallway. In general the walls seemed very thin. We could hear people talking and toilets being flushed were easily distinguished from other bathroom utilities being used. Somewhat unpleasant! But on the second night, we got another surprise. The changing rooms for the boxers were the two rooms beside ours. So we could hear the kids warming up, punshing a punshing ball and it smelled like sweat and smelly feet in the hallway. It was so noisy I was forced to request a different room, which was thankfully obliged. Why do you need to put people right beside a boxing club changing room, if half the hotel is empty? Furthermore the breakfast left something to wish for: One morning I was presented with an uncooked sausage. It must have just jumped in and out of the pan, barely any sign of its contact with heat. The other morning the breakfast was not fully prepared when we went down at 8 o'clock. The toast was always burned. So, if the breakfast would have been ok and one wouldn't be put in a room in the middle of a boxing pandemonium, it probably would be an ok place to stay. But after this, we will think twice about staying there again.

although clean, the rooms need to be updated. old furnishings, chipped paint, bed extremely small. i would recommend placing families with small children in a different location in hotel to that of couples... children screaming and running down corridors, children playing football in reception area is not what id call a nice relaxing weekend away. this hotel gave the children free run of the place with no regard to other paying guests. and parents were not held responsible to keep their children behaving in a mannerly fashion. Breakfast lovely, We will not be staying at this hotel again, for the value out there now there are abundance of other hotels in the locality more upto date.

We arrived at the hotel quite late at night. On arraival we were greeted by a firendly receptionist. We made our way to our room and my friend and i commented that it was most unusual to have to use an actual key to open the room door. The room was quite large but was very dark and could have done with a lot more lighting. We then made our way to the bar which again was very dark. We both commented on how much potential this hotel had and it really wasnt been used to its full potential. The beds were comfortable but the rooms were very warm. Brekfast was good, (breakfast freshly cooked) there was a long queue for the breakfast stand so perhaps if the breakfast stand could be longer and larger it would faciliate faster movements of guests. The dining room while very large was dark and again more lighting would be hepful. Overall, the hotel was clean and comfortable however a little investment would go a long way.

The staff in the hotel were excellent, very helpful and mannerly.Due to the lovely staff we will be back again to this hotel and will recommand it to others.I have stayed in many hotels and this one was very good. Many Thanks Orla Gallagher Arrival 21st Oct 2011

Had a lovely break with children and family members. Relaxing hotel and friendly staff, very nice food. Lidl breaks well worth it, will definitely book again

very good value.staff were friendly.food was good. room was spacious and clean. we stayed in room 303-hot bath tap tends to be very hard to turn off ,tends to stick-needs greased up! also side bath plastic cover is broken needs two selftapping screws to fix to underlying wooden frame. shouldnt take handy man more than 15 mins!! overall its a lovely hotel and i look forward to returning again one day, david o'toole, galway.

From arrival at this hotel we could not have encountered more friendly staff. The hotel's communial areas ( bar, restaurant & lobby) were lovely, the rooms themselves were very clean, but a bit dated and we did find parts of the hotel rather cold ,(although this could have been due to the snow we got at the weekend!) The spa/swimming pool facilities were great and our son enjoyed them every single day of our stay! Dinner was included for one of our nights stay, menu was ok but if you wanted steak you had to pay extra. Breakfast in the morning was ok as well, if there had been fresh fruit instead of tinned prunes and grapfruit it would have been a lot better. All in all a great stay just wish the weather had been more kind so we could have explored a little more.

*** Staff excellent and service excellent by the people there. Nice Gym, Swim pool etc.Close to town walkable or short drive. Rooms basic.Somewhat Cold. Needed more blankets. Hotel could do with a bit of redecoration. Looks better from the outside. Great Spa Offers. Good value for money.

sadly we didnt have a great stay at this hotel,on arriving the room was freezing,we had to request the heating on... then we went for dinner in hotel,,meal was skimmpy..3 potatoes between me and my husband..childrens pizza was the smallest one frozen from supermarket then my son whos 7 adores ice cream,,got lettuce in his ice cream...that was it,it put him off,,however we did get a free drink...we went to the bar,,and the seconf drink my husband got a very dirty pint glass..there was to be music,,10.30 and no sign of it..then this old couple came in to set it,,10.45 we gave up we went back to our room,,the room was so cold,,so i called reception...they wanted to move us..but i already had my kids in bed..they sent us blankets after 20 mins wait,,they moved us the next day to the 2nd floor ..much warmer...but we couldnt eat in the hotel,we went restraunt...it was a family break for my husbands birthday,,,and we did not enjoy it,,for breakfast time ya had wait around for your food,,ie....the had sausage but no bacon,,then the rest be cold waiting...just not nce as a hotel,,i also booked for a family 2 adults 2 children,,,and had pay extra for the kids when i got ther..ok it was only 20 euro extra but i know i ticked the boxes for a family,,,,,very disappointing

Hotel was ok.. Not the nicest place I've ever stayed in. I was expecting more from the pictures. The room seemed very old. The food was ok, but nothing spectacular. If I had paid for the dinner I would have been left disappointed. Staff were very friendly and helpful. If I was to go back to Westport for a romantic break, I wouldn't stay here. Young couple 20's

stayed there 28,29th jan 11.staff were great if not well established same faces all the time so hard workers and kept it running smooth. the room was economy style. had all the bits but wasnt updated since the 80s. clean yes but old and drabby.. the hotel was cosy warm but stairwells like a fridge..the food was very edible but not well presented and a bit pricey for what you get but you wont go hungry..drinks mad pricey. eg 5.40 for a small bottle of smirnoff or west coast..suppose thats the norm.. would i stay there again...at a push if couldnt find a nicer place in the area. expected a bit more when going away for a weekend. 2 adults 1 6yr old.. well relaxed after it as bed was lovely

Have to admit it was one of the best breaks I have ever had. Food was excellent rooms where really nice. Westport itself is a fabulous place to be in.Highly reccommend the Woods as a get away from it all. As for value I hope you can do this again. Yours Mr thomas Sheedy
