Brilliant value for money! Old style hotel but very clean and comfortable and the breakfast was very good as the main meals were all cooked fresh a la carte not a buffet like you would expect. Location was good and staff very friendly

I have stayed here many times and as usual it was fab , great breakfast and very comfy beds , also Sinead on front desk was a little treasure she couldn't have been more helpful :) :) :)

We as a group of friends only stayed one night here but we wished it was longer! Beautiful hotel and fab breakfast with very pleasant and helpful staff loved it!

This was our second time in the lovely hotel. The staff were friendly and very helpful. Rooms were clean and comfortable and very cosy. We dined in the restaurant and found the food very good, the only thing I would say is that the portions very huge !! and that is not a bad thing. Overall we had a lovely weekend and will be again soon !

I always love this hotel for it's location but I was disappointed to be sent to the bar to have breakfast. My daughter and I were in the dining room just after 10 but as we were late the waitress put us in the bar for breakfast. Breakfast was just alright.

Poor, very small bed, stained sheet (not discovered until the next morning). No working plug in bathroom sink, toilet very badly stained and seat broken. Will say the Owner was very welcoming and friendly on arrival, but never saw her again. Didn't bother staying for breakfast the next morning.

A great hotel to stay booked in Sun 6th Oct 2014. Lovely Receptionist greeted us, the room was very comfortable and the morning breakfast was was very good. Looking forward to staying again.

Stayed there Sunday night. Great Value and service. Only minus was the Caesar Salad on the Bar menu - it was just thick potato in too thick sauces and olives. Otherwise excellent.

Like most 4 stars in Ireland for my standard this is not a four stars but a 3 stars. The staff are nice and very helpful. No amenities on site for children. They cater for vegetarian. We stayed on room 208 and it's was a nice and bright room.

We had a wonderful stay in this lovely clean hotel with most helpful friendly staff. Breakfast was excellent with lovely freshly cooked full Irish. Will definitely be back to stay there and would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Galway.

We stayed in the Westwood a number of years ago. We were impressed with it then and were not disappointed on our return visit. All the staff were very friendly and helpful.The rooms were very comfortable and clean. The food and service was excellent. We really enjoyed our stay.

What can I say, it was fab as always, staff were friendly and service was excellent. We would not stay any where else but the Westwood hotel when we go to Galway its the best.

Staff were, very friendly & helpful. The breakfast menu was excellent. The room very clean & comfortable. We felt that it was too far from the centre of Galway,(approx 40 mins walk). Some of the taxi drivers were inclined to overcharge - the fare should be between â‚¬8 - â‚¬10. However there is a bus service available with a stop close to the hotel which will bring you to Eyre Square. Overall opinion very good hotel but our prefernce would be for a more central location. What a lovely hotel, rooms were nice and warm and the staff couldn't help us anymore they were so nice and helpful. We had a beautiful dinner with the food coming out nice and fresh and hot. Would recommend this hotel to everyone.

Excellent hotel. Wonderful staff, all so polite and friendly. Food was georgous, had dinner in restaurant, steaks were super but what I love most about this hotel is the breakfast, I have to say that they give the best hotel breakfast, great variety of fruits , cereals and pasteries. The hot food is freshly cooked to order and is always just lovely. Cannot praise this hotel enough, will be back again.

The Hotel was lovely, breakfast was great, room was very comfortable, maybe a little outside Galway if you didn't have a car. No complaints whatsoever.

I had a short stay but it was a fantastic experience. Staff very helpful, corteous, friendly but at the same time very professional. I phoned hotel day in advance to seek possibility of an earlier check in (nearly 3 hours earlier than usual) due to my engagements in Galway and I was told they see what it could be done. When I arrived at hotel, very early, my room was ready! Did not avail of restaurant and bar facilities but food quality at breakfast was of a very good standard and service was first class. Rooms were also of a very high standard, clean and spacious and also lots of choice of TV channels and free WI-FI throughout the hotel. Will definitely return to the Westwood Hotel for my next stay in Galway and recommend anyone looking for a place to stay near city centre to do the same.

Spent 1 night of the St. Patrick's weekend in the Westwood. It was a most enjoyable stay and even though there seemed to be a large wedding that night the service all around was very good. We were upgraded to a superior room on arrival, which was very comfortable. Breakfast was very enjoyable also we would have liked to avail of the dinner also but were unable due to prior arrangements. Certainly would have no hesitation in returning / recommending it.

Stayed Saturday 9th Feb 2013. Girls night out so we had 2 twin rooms. Rooms were lovely and spacious. Hotel was beautiful, staff were friendly and helpful and the food was excellent. 5 minute taxi ride to city center. Would highly recommend.

This is a good hotel but I question its 4 star rating. If you do Lild breaks you get a basic room - without bathrobe, bottled water and good quality coffee. In my experience with a 4 star hotel one should'nt have to pay for room service. The quality of food in the bar is good but not great. Its pretty standard pub grup.

Very relaxing break away. Spent 3 nights over the mid term with our 8 year old. Hotel was very busy which was good to see. We had to queue for breakfast for a few minutes, which was no problem. The buffet selection was good and the hot breakfast was very tasty with good quality sausages rashers etc... The hotel is well situated for travelling into Connemara without dealing with the city traffic. Staff were very pleasant. Evening meals which we had on the three nights were of a very good standard for a hotel. The steak was as good as I've had in a long while, had it on two nights, requested medium rare and got it medium rare, wife asked for medium and again was spot on. There was an excellent selection of pay movies for â‚¬5, all new dvd releases in the room. The bed, breakfast and dinner option represent excellent value. Have used similar hotel deal websites and this hotel is head and shoulders above them.

Lovely nite at the Weatwood. Traditional, cosy, welcoming hotel. Staff all very friendly. Whilst this hotel is a little outside the city centre, if you are looking for a genuine four star hotel, with all the home comforts then the Westwood is the hotel for you. Rooms very big, bathroom with traditional big sink and pull chain toilet, all added to the charm of this hotel. Had dinner in the restaurant and was plesantly surprised. The cooked breakfast was cooked per order and fantastic. Only critism of the dining experience in the hotel is that the portions were huge. Overall lovely night and will stay the again. Great value fom Lidl breaks.

We stated at this hotel for one night. We were welcomed on arrival by a very pleasant member of staff. The room was clean and very comfortable. We had a very pleasant overnight stay and a very nice breakfast. No complaints whatsoever.

We had a lovely time in the Westwood hotel.the staff were very friendly and welcoming.on Friday night when we had arrived.my children were exhausted and tired.however pure room was over the main bar which was very noisy and loud.my youngest son eventually fell asleep at 00 45am.he is 4 yrs old.the room was satisfactory.u

Absolutely lovely hotel - rooms nice and big. Lovely bar attached to the hotel for an enjoyable drink. The Breakfast was excellent, plenty of choice -whatever your taste. If I was heading to Galway I would book this hotel.

Fantastic hotel to stay in lovely friendly staff very helpful and polite this is so rare nowadays The Westwood is the best hotel we've stayed in in Galway the food is really good and not at all overpriced well worth it ! and the same for drinks too! Our rooms were roomy and spotlessly clean comfy beds as well. Will be staying here again when next in Galway, Thanks to all !

Stayed 2 nights B&B, Interconnecting doors between rooms not locked and a small child arrived in our room soon after check in- had a drink in bar on friday night, smell of sewerage in the place was terrible, left after 10mins. Rooms fine, shower wasnt great tho. Nice location. Adequate for deal we got but would not like to be paying full price

really enjoyed our stay here, had my teenage son and his friend stay in an adjoining room which was ideal as i could keep an eye on them. Could not fault the rooms , very clean modern decor and spacious.Breakfast was excellent . only fault i had was meals in the bar were very expensive especially if you had to feed a family ... would be nice also if the bar had some entertainment for guests ...Staff were all very friendly and welcoming .will be returning .

Stayed in the Westwood when attending a conference in Galway. Room was great, clean and fresh. However dinner was rushed with few vegetarian options, felt like staff couldn't wait for us to leave and breakfast the following morning involved a very long wait. Less rush in the evening and more in the morning might have made this a better stay.

A one-night stay and a first booked through Lidl Breaks website was in a spacious, comfortable hotel employing pleasant, efficient staff. I would happily use Lidl Breaks to book on another occasion and stay at the Westwood if in Galway.

My husband, two young children and I stayed for one night at Easter in the Westwood hotel and found everything about the hotel, from the friendlieness of the staff, to the comfort and the decor of the room as well as the quality of the food to be first class. Our child really enjoyed playing in the hotel's playroom which was very well equipped with toys to occupy babies right through to older children. When we went to our room we found two handmade Easter eggs waiting for us and the children received a gift each for Easter at diiner! It was by far the best standard of hotel we have visited on a Lidl break and we look forward to returning again on our next visit to Galway.

My husband and I stayed at the Westwood Hotel, Galway on a Lidl break. The standard of the hotel was first class. Our room was very comfortable, with all the necessary requirements. Breakfast and dinner in the very comfortable restaurant were very good. The food and service were excellent. The staff, without exception were friendly and efficient. Overall, we would highly recommend this hotel, whether on a Lidl break or not.. Lidl breaks continue to give excellent value and standards. Terry Byrne

We stayed at the Westwood Hotel Galway on one of the Lidl breaks - for one night B&B and dinner - the hotel was lovely and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The meal we had was very tasty and well presented, the breakfast in the morning was just as good with warm friendly waiting staff! - I would highly recommend this hotel and the lidl breaks - exceptional value for money. My husband and I recently spent 2 nights here. We have stayed in several hotels nation wide, with the lidl breaks and found this hotel to be one of an extremely high standard. Our receptionist (Chloe, I think!) was very friendly and helpful . Our room was very spacious, clean and comfortable with a beautiful old style en- suite. The food in the restaurant was excellent- tasty, plentiful and well presented with a great menu available. Staff here were also very helpful, efficient and friendly. Overall I thought this an exceptional hotel and represented superb value for money with the lidl breaks. We will continue to use the lidl breaks and have recommended them to friends and family. Well done Lidl and long may the offers last.

My husband and myself are just back from a wonderful break at The Westwood Hotel in Galway, we have stayed at the Westwood on another occasion in the past for a weekend, but decided to book it on this occasion through tle lidl breaks, as we were only on a short business trip. I was a little worried, that because it was a Lidl break that the quality of our room or the food might be compremised, but thankfully this was not the case. When we presented at check in, the staff greeted us courtiously. check in was smooth. We were given room 125, which we were happy with. The one night break we booked included dinner, this was the reason we returned to this hotel, because on our last break there, the food was fantastic. Both my husband and myself were happy when we saw that just because we were on a Lidl break the menu selection was not cut, some of the dishes carried a suppliment, which you would expect. We had a wonderful dinner, and breakfast next morning was as good as ever. I would like to take this oppertunity to thank all the staff at The Westwood Hotel, for a lovely stay, and look forward to returning for a longer stay next time. Date of stay, Sunday 20th of Feburary.

Four adults stayed in hotel for 2 nights bed and breakfast, rooms were spacious and clean, and very warm which is a welcome change ! We arrived down at the main bar to an off smell in one area of it, the bar itself could do with a bit of a revamp as could its residents bar, which meant that after closing hours we had to order drinks to our room and drink them there ? ... Breakfast was included in our break and was made to order which meant it was very tasty and a great choice of breakfasts and there was ample cereals / juices / fruits/ pastries to keep us going until it arrived. Note breakfast will take a little longer as it is made to order but totally worth it. Overall an enjoyable stay in the hotel and fantastic value

We stayed for two nights.Bedroom and bathroom lovely.Receiption staff very nice and helpfull. The service in bar was terrible,not enough staff.We waited for our bar meal on Sunday evening for 45minutes.Barman took our dishes when we were finished our main meal and never asked if we would like desert or coffee.We then called him to order desert and he got it wrong.Breakfast was lovely and service was fast and effecient. really enjoyed our stay at the westwood, we were there for the weekend, the staff were very pleasant. great value for money, the breakfast was excellent. the restaurant food was fantastic. the rooms were well equipped and had great heating. on our next visit to galway we will be sure to book the westwood again. thanks again.

Breakfast was nice, cooked to order. Room were decorated ok. I was at the back of the hotel and had to move room as there was some sort of ventilation unit outside the window. The second room was at the front and had a lot of traffic noise

Recently stayed at the Westwood Hotel in Galway, I was very impressed with the hotel, the decor of the rooms was lovely, the staff were very helpful and friendly and the evening meal was excellent. I was most impressedwith the quality of the food, especially the evening meal. As the lidl break was such good value for money, I was not expecting the very high standard that I received, I certainly will book a lidl break again, and I will definately return to the Westwood Hotel.

This is a great hotel for families or business excellent service with friendly and helpful staff. Restuarant and bar food are both excellent with a good choice available.The hotel is finished to a high standard with cleaniness a priority.The only reason it didn t get five stars is the absense of onsite leisure facilties.

I stayed in the Westwood hotel with my husband and 2 year old son in September 2010. I would highly reccommend this hotel. Our room was well laid out, spacious, bright and comfortable (the beds are a bit hard though). The food both for breakfast and the bar food was excellant. All the staff were pleasant and helpful. Location wise its a fair distance from the city centre but that didn't bother us as we had a car. We usually stay in the city when we visit Galway, but I think the Westwood will be first on our list from now on.

Stayed for a couple of nights in August 2010 and found the hotel room to be comfortable and spacious. Breakfast was excellent with a good selection of fresh fruit and the usual cereals with a very good selection of cooked breakfast on offer. The hotel is a half hour from the centre of things but this was perfectly suitable for us if you want to get a walk in.

This was most definitely a 5 star stay. The best lidl break I have had and this is the 4th hotel I have stayed in. Staff, facilities, food was second to none - a most enjoyable stay.

This was one of the nicest hotels I ever stayed in. Its in a very good location, they are very welcoming. The room was very spacious and comfortable and the decor was very tasteful. The food was excellent and reasonably priced. I would love to go back soon.

Stayed in the Westwood resently Beautiful hotel a little out of town but a verl quiet area at night guaranted a good nights sleep,We ate in the restaurant both nights fantastic food ,Our next time in Galway we will be in the Westwood ,Brendan

We stayed in the Westwood hotel on a Saturday night and would highly recommend this hotel, the staff were very welcoming and helpful. The room was lovely and spaceous. Robes and slippers are provided for comfort which is a nice touch. We ate food in the bar the day we arrived and it was delicious, the seafodd chowder was especially good. Breakfast the following morning was great with an excellent choice of cold and hot food - cooked to order. Normal checkout was 12.30 but we were allowed to stay on til 2pm so we under no pressure to get checked out. I will definitely return to this hotel.

Hotel was great, really nice spacious rooms and the bathrooms were lovely. staff were really friendly and polite and the food was great. would definitely go back to this hotel

Myself and my family (2 adults, 2 children and baby) stayed in the Westwood Hotel at Easter. The service and food was excellent, staff really friendly and couldn't do enough for us. The hotel didnt have a leisure centre which was a bit of a shame (knew that before we arrived), but would certrainly stay again. They organised activities for the kids and an easter egg hunt and colouring competition. Great stay. Rooms clean, fresh and airy.
