Hotel was very central and close to everything. Staff were lovely but the guys in the bar and restaurant were all under pressure. We went for the dinner/B&B package. Only 2 options of a mains, pasta or pizza. I’m not a huge lover of either, maybe a roast of the day? As i said the staff was there for in the restaurant were under pressure, we weren’t offered water or tea/coffee. Breakfast was very nice. The room was very nice, amazing pillows. Would stay again but only go for the B&B option.

We have stayed at this hotel on numerous occasions in the past and always rated it highly. This time was the worst stay we had in a clayton hotel. The heating would not work in the hotel room. I contacted reception who said they'd send someone up. Nobody arrived and they rang 20 mins later to say they'd reset it in their control room. I rang down 45 mins later as it still wasn't working. Two security guards arrived up and tried to get it to work. The manager also arrived into the room and none of them could work it. The manager then went to a control room of some sort and the security guards finally left and said they couldn't get it working and would tell the manager. The heating then came on for about ten minutes before blowing cold air again. At this stage we had been trying to get the heating going for 2 hours and we were so tired that we just got into bed and left it off. Aside from that we also ate dinner in the restaurant. Starter for my husband was soup which was inedible so he left it. We were not offered water at the table nor were we asked if we'd like a drink so I went to the bar myself to get our drinks and paid for them there and then. The main courses were ok. After going to bed I got a call from the restaurant stating there was an unpaid bill for sides with the meal and for two cocktails. I said we did not drink cocktails and only got whatever came with the main course and no sides. The girl said she'd ring back but didn't so I got dressed and went downstairs only to be told they'd made a mistake and put someone else's sides and cocktails on our bill. I was so annoyed with this and the lack of heat that I couldn't sleep. To top it off there was a full blown meeting in the hallway at all hours of the morning that woke us and kept us awake for ages. So to clarify this was a terrible stay and ruined what should have been a nice night away for our wedding anniversary.

Mary scored 4 / 5 on 02/11/2024

Hotel was very nice. Room was spacious and warm. Everything was within walking distance. However I was disappointed with the dinner. We don't eat meat so choice was limited. The halloumi cheese was burnt and the fish and chips did not look as if they were cooked to order. Breakfast was fine.

Fantastic hotel, right in the centre of the city, the staff are exceptionally friendly and helpful. My only disappointment was that they have taken away the swimming pool and leisure centre. We have enjoyed this facility on many occasions in the past and we were looking forward to it this time.

I always read the ?? and ?? ?? ratings for hotels first. With this in mind I began to wonder if I’d made a mistake. Glad to say I couldn’t have been more wrong. Beyond doubt this turned out to be one of the best hotels in Ireland for all the right reasons Cleanliness, service, friendliness, food and variety. Perhaps the bar prices were on the high side £14.70 for a beer and a small wine????

Not very happy with the meal we had

Catherine scored 3 / 5 on 03/09/2024

Some breakfast food ran out at the buffet i.e. bacon, pudding. No fried eggs on the menu. Tea ordered 4 times before it was finally served. Locked out of our rooms after breakfast, before the 11am checkout time. Chambermaid knocked and entered our bedroom before 10am, while we were still in bed.

Sharon scored 3 / 5 on 11/08/2020

Extremely helpful and courteous staff, however the limited availability of swimming caused a lot of undue stress when travelling with a child with additional needs. We did not receive an email prior to our arrival and when we arrived at check in time we were advised there was no swimming available. Rooms are quite outdated and in need of painting but are clean. There was a travel cot in my room even though my son is 7. Good location and good service generally in spite of the current restrictions in place.

1 we weren’t on there system when I got there. I booked a family room don’t think I got one room consisted off a double & 1 single bed. Air conditioner didn’t work opened windows & there was a smell, looked out there was a dead bird. Have photo. Only booked this hotel for the pool for my two kids couldn’t get near the pool for our entire stay. Staff were nice not a good experience from start to finish. Thanks
