Breakfast was good which was one of the few positives. Room was dirty. Carpet stained in several places. Skirting boards Dirty and dusty. Bed clothes had holes in them.ran a bath to find no hot water. Overall expensive for what we got. Wouldn't return.
very relaxing place to stay, away from the city. friendly staff, tasty breakfast, good value for money. would recommend to friends and would stay there again
We had a very enjoyable stay in Fernhill, the Hotel was very nice, staff were friendly and professional rooms are large and beds comfortable, the breakfast was excellent, the bar in the clubhouse (2 minutes walk from the hotel) is excellent the food superb and the staff very friendly. If you need any advice on where to go and how to get there just ask Gerry or any of the locals who frequent the bar. Thanks for a great weekend Tom, Mary Anne and Ã?ine Maria ( 8)
It is strictly for golfers who don't care for comfort. The hotel is dated no matter what others write (I saw plenty of reviews before arriving and they were totally at odds with each other) The breakfast was buffet and nothing great. The main reason we booked this place was to use its health centre and pool but upon arrival we found it closed "for renovations" we subsequently heard that it had already been closed for a month prior to our arrival and there was no set date or month for its re-opening. It felt like a scam as this vital piece of information could have been put on their website. To eat you or get a drink you had to walk down the road to its golf club house. The food was good (even though they came out with different dishes to what we ordered they did make up for it with a free drink each) and the atmosphere was pleasant. There is no reception after 9 or 10pm. And we found the receptionist more willing to finish her conversation on the phone to her friends than dealing with customers, in fact a queue had to form and wait while one such phone call carried on. A disappointing stay made even more so by making the mistake of extending it by 1 night on our way down there.
We were on a two night break and booked a 3rd night on lidl breaks including dinner. We booked it on the premise there was a leisure centre at the hotel. When we arrived, we were told the leisure centre was closed and might be open later in the week. Asking a day later we were told it was closed for refurbishments and would not be open till September. This was very disapointing as i think it should have been advertised on their website. There was no bar in the hotel and we had to walk to the club house for a drink. Luckily the weather was relatively good. We got the dinner bed and breakfast option which was not great value for money as two courses was generally under 20e. The food was average standard. On the plus side it was peaceful, the clubhouse staff were great and it would be suitable for golfers. The breakfast was good but the hotel needs refurbishment. The lidl break price was not great value for money.
