Very nice and polite friendly staff especially the lovely guy in the suit we meet at breakfast didn't get his name but lovely to speak to will definitely return in the future.
In 20+ years of going to Cork about twice a year, I have rarely stayed anywhere else. The hotel is very central and the staff could not be more helpful. I am impressed with the style of management, the atmosphere, and the commitment and dedication of those working there. Well done. .....Take a bow!
We stay here alot staff are so nice and it’s so central xx
Nice clean hotel, nice staff and a good breakfast, close proximity to Patrick street -
Convenient to Cork city clean nice swimming pool. Great breakfast. Reasonably priced.
Hotel is very central. Staff are friendly & the rooms are clean & comfortable. Good breakfast also. Would recommend.
Beautiful hotel. Excellent staff. Superb location
Good value, highly functional, easy to get to, helpful staff, clean room, comfortable beds. Perfect for our needs.
Staff very friendly and helpful. Room clean and spacious. Bed very comfortable. Great location. 4/5 for breakfast because I have had nicer cooked food, and it would have been nice to have a choice of lower fat milk and fresh coffee. However the fresh fruit salad was lovely.. Would definitely use again.
We really had a lovely experience checking in with Eve on the front desk. She was so helpful and chatty. Happy with everything. Great to stay here and experience what they had to offer. Lovely swim and a big breakfast. Thanks again .
Stayed here a few times now, great location, always a warm welcome, room was ready really early, breakfast was good, twin room was spacious, comfortable beds!
Beautiful hotel, lovely staff, very friendly and helpful. No noise when in bed at night and hotel is very central. We will be definitely be booking again in the future. Food is also good.
The staff were so welcoming and friendly. Our room was clean & cozy, will go back again.
Although told about being vegan in advance they had no vegan options for breakfast and were very unhelpful.
The staff were excellent and very friendly. We did find it chilly in the bar and my wife had to put her coat on. The bedroom window had a very strong draught and it was noisy from the wind outside. It could definitely do with being looked at. We still enjoyed our stay to be fair
Very central only 5 mins from city centre lovely staff nice breakfast got parking outside which was a bonus would stay again great price point
Staff wonderful. Room had cobwebs hanging from ceiling not very clean. Dinner was not great for the price we paid . Staff and location good.
Loved the location, very near city centre.Staff very friendly and helpful. BREAKFAST delicious.
very central, clean , very friendly staff. no view from bedroom window as glass was frosted out . pool was a bit busy Friday evening with swimming lessons go on, nice breakfast , lunch was average I'm afraid, a bit pricey for what we got, my kids got 2 pieces of garlic bread for €9. and not big pieces. menus said there was a meal deal. but when we went to pay we were told we should have done it a checking in, so discount didn't apply, very misleading on the menu.
Good Hotel good location good breakfast great people working in the hotel what more does anybody need
Cannot recommend this hotel enough, room was first class. Location central, has everything you would want. Leisure facilities, bar, restaurant but the icing on the cake is the wonderful stuff. They were all great but a special mention to Maria on reception, she couldn't have done enough for us and her cheery demeanour made our stay. We will be regular visitors.
Excellent location. Lovely staff and excellent service
Wonderful experience. Staff were excellent and did everything to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable.
We realy enjoyed our stay. I like the feel of the hotel. The staff were very friendly. Overall, a good atmosphere. Great location also, a few minutes walk from the center of town. We will return when we go back to Cork.
Good location nice rooms good staff
Great location for visiting Cork, comfortable and very clean room, friendly staff, I absolutely recommend
Brilliant hotel loved it
Very comfortable stay, pleasant staff and great value
Lovely staff and great breakfast too
I did have a few issues with check in as I was asked to pay full amount even though I had paid a deposit. I did get refunded before departure. There were minor issues with the room that I also reported to the manager on my checking out. Manager dealt with me in a very efficient and friendly manner, I appreciated his responses to my comments.
Clean and comfortable. In the leisure centre there was no body wash or shampoo supplied in the shower. Kinda standard in leisure centres? Ordered food in the bar was waiting over 30 minutes for the food to be served. But overall would return.
Staff very friendly and helpful. Comfortable and relaxed atmosphere. Food lovely.
Comfortable and homely, staff were great. We were even offed ice ceram cones on arrival as the staff were getting them as part of a staff appreciation day. Food and service in the Bar was excellent. Niall
Stayed overnight as we had office Christmas party, within walking distance of Cork City, clean crisp bed linen and sheets, comfortable beds and lovely buffet the following morning. All staff were very helpful, friendly and approachable. Thank you.
Beautiful, comfortable friendly n clean hotel. Breakfast delicious.
Spotless clean lovely hotel good staff lovely food fabulous choice at breakfast
On arrival met by friendly ladies at reception. Nice atmosphere, the room was spacious and airy. When I asked if we could have a late check out there was no problem. Walking distance to city centre and an all round good feel to the place. Only sorry we couldn't stay longer. Great spot. Thanks Maldron.
Friendly and helpful staff. Convenient location. Spacious rooms and good breakfast options.
A nice Hotel with pleasant helpful staff .breakfast buffet was a little bit limited as is parking not an issue if the weather is good .Well located to city centre but a little bit expensive 124 euro for B&B 2 people + 8 for car park on a Thursday
Staff are very nice and the breakfast was lovely
My self and my friend enjoyed our stay.Rooms very comfortable, staff very welcoming, friendly.lovely greeting from receptionist very friendly.staff in tbe bar very helpful.will definitely return again.
My wife and I enjoyed a very relaxing break with you early in Feb. The location is ideal, parked on Friday afternoon and didn't move the car until leaving on Sunday. Hotel in walking distance of a range of activities, The Cork Opera Hs. is less than 5 mins walk, and the shops in the same area. Every member of staff at The Maldron Hotel Shandon Cork should be very proud of themselves. They are an example of customer service at it's best. The facalities were to a good standard. Thank you one & all. We will be back.
Lovely staff Fabulous food Comfortable room which was spotless Great amenities swimming pool, jacuzzi, steam room, sauna, separate kids pool (so I will be definitely returning with my kids ) All in all a great choice if you want a central location and top notch service.
From the time we arrived the staff could not have been nicer, reception, bar, restaurant, cleaning staff all were very helpful and pleasant. COVID certs were checked everytime we ate, which is great. Dinner and breakfast was lovely. I must also mention Lidl I think it was Darragh or Diarmuid I spoke with when booking and he was lovely to deal with.
Staff really friendly & Hotel lovely. Food was really good. We enjoyed our stay. The lift was out of order but I think that was due to covid restrictions other than that we enjoyed our stay & would definitely be back.
I stayed dere last weekend for 2 nites and I have to say I'd defo recommend it the staff were lovely and d room was lovely and big for recommend family xxx
Nice hotel very nice staff great room nice meals leisure part could be refresh a bit more
Brillant hotel staff so friendly. Definitely go back
Lovely hotel, Family room was bright and spacious for 2 adults and 2 kids aged 3 & 4. Staff couldn't do enough for us or the kids so helpful. We felt at ease from entry to exit.
Hotel was very good and food really good I did find the bedroom was to big for the amount of furniture in it and you could hit you head of a part of the ceiling apart from that I would stay here again
Bed was all falling to one side. Wheels missing. Too late to ask to sort it out. Remote for telly did big work Apart from that the food was fab. Staff were lovely
Lovely hotel and the food was fabulous. The only draw back was parking but we were fortunate to get a space on the street
Lovely hotel. Very clean and staff very helpful and friendly. Food was good in both the bar and the restaurant. I would definately stay there again ????
Lovely hotel. Staff were friendly and accommodating. Beautiful leisure centre and all facilities open for use. Will be back again.
We had a lovely two night break. Location of hotel is very central. All staff from check in to restaurant were very pleasant and helpful. We were thrilled when we saw how spacious the room was and the food was delicious, with a great selection for breakfast. We will definitely return after such an excellent experience.
Good: Pool, food, location Bad: Parking, 11pm bar finish silly. 11.30pm on Gov.ie. Room temperature crazy, can't cool as window restricted to small opening. Had to ask for second pillows.
Very comfortable overnight stay at Maldron. Great dinner and breakfast and really pleasant local staff. Will definitely be back for longer stay soon. Bill and Susan
Lovely spotless hotel,Food fab and lovely friendly staff
Rooms were spacious and clean. Hotel staff very nice and friendly. Hotel was in a great location. Less than 10 minute walk into the city centre. I loved the history of the hotel. I had no idea it was haunted until one of the waitresses told me. Made my stay a little more interesting. Would definitely stay again.
Fantastic night away. We choose this hotel regularly throughout the year, year on year as we absolutely love it. Amenities... Few minutes walk from the city Center. Lovely peaceful park at the back. Local sweet shop across the corner. Hotel itself... 20/10! Great staff, great rooms. Fantastic food. Couldn't be nicer and more helpful. Love it. Well done
Great hotel, super value, the team are all very customer focused, room comfortable. It is up a hill from the river Lee, yet still convenient to the city's restaurants and shops. Best breakfast "ever" compliments to the chefs, I would recommend and stay again.
Good location food was good and the staff could not have done enough for us, very nice and friendly people!!
Nice hotel. friendly helpful staff.
Great location, lovely room, friendly staff!
Hotel itself was okay, staff were lovely. Requested double room, got a double and a single which was needed as the double bed mattress was very poor and couldn't be used by 2 people. Room was a bit grubby with some stains but bath was wonderful. Breakfast was okay but not great. Overall good value due to sale but absolutely not worth the full price per night.
Maria was so lovely on arrival at reception and breakfast the next day was outstanding. Very well done to all the staff
We have stayed in the Maldron Hotel on several occasions and it was ok but this time we arrived at the hotel and car park was full so we were directed to car park on Carroll's Quay, It was a complete nightmare to get there and staff on reception were not very helpful with directions. We were helped by a man in another car park and he was very good with directions. It was very stressful as it was Friday afternoon and traffic was awful, staff on reception hardly gave us any information we had to keep asking questions re: breakfast and other issues re:COVID19, we will not return again. Breakfast was nice and staff in dining area were friendly and helpful.
Staying in any hotel anywhere is not as nice an experience as it might be because of covid 19. So for this reason it would be unfair to everyone to make any further comment. Hopefull things will improve soon
Very well organised for Covid and felt very safe. Spotlessly clean throughout. Lovely large room and bathroom. Excellent customer service, staff are very nice. Unfortunately no hot water in room due to a boiler problem, but we were compensated without even asking and sincere apologies given, it would definitely not stop me from recommending or staying at the hotel again, actually because of the way it was handled it would make me feel more positively towards the hotel.
Great location and the staff were all very helpful.
Hotel was perfect in terms of location, so close to city centre and lovely rooms! Only down side was dinner in the restaurant was not great
Nice hotel staff very friendly and helpful close to city centre
Hotel was nice and clean. All the staff were really lovely. Dinner in the restaurant was tasty. Room was spacious and clean. Good location. Would definitely stay here again.
Our staycation at the Maldron was really nice. Staff were very friendly and all the Covid protocols were adhered too. Perfect location to tour Cork City which was wonderful especially our visit to the English Market. Great that Cork City has so many pedestrian areas. Food and service good. Highly recommend the Maldron for a city break and definitely recommend a day trip to Cobb. We will be back as we did not book Spike Island in advance and it was booked out.
The hotel staff were very obliging hotel was suited perfectly for my family . The lady in reception was lovely and very friendly . The only problem was my child had ordered a hot breakfast but it never arrived . When I said to to the girl she was going to bring me a breakfast but we were finished our breakfast , he didn't go hungry he had toast and chocolate croissant so all was good .we had dinner 2 nights in hotel food was top notch a good choice .
Good value for money and great location- found Covid 19 restrictions difficult to adjust to with pre-booking everything which is the times we live in! Other than staff and ourselves, most of the other guests did not wear masks in the public places in the hotel which I found disconcerting!!
Excellent hotel with very good adherence to COVID 19 sanitising etc.
Lovely hotel . Very friendly and helpful staff, very nice breakfast and evening meal. The hotel compiled with social distancing and the current regulations.
Friendly welcome by staff. Room was lovely. We enjoyed our stay, hotel was in central location with easy access to shopping areas.
Staff were fantastic, service was great and so was breakfast service. Given current social distancing great measures in place with tables well distanced apart and ample hand sanitizer throughout the hotel. There was 2 downfalls to the trip, there was limited booking available in the pool area and also there is very limited parking at the hotel. Overnight parking is 14 euro per night which could make a long stay costly but overall we were very happy with our stay. Again have to say the staff were so lovely.
unfortunately my stay was not a good one. on arrival I was told that breakfast was nearly fully booked for the following morning and the only time was 7am that didn't work for me. when asking was it OK to use the pool I was told it was fully booked and I could not use it. I asked why it was not asked of me to book in advance when I booked over a month in advance and I got no answer apart from it is because of covid. we stayed in the hotel to have dinner burgers and chips. the chips were raw but the burger was OK. I felt the meal was very over priced at 56€ for 3 meals no dessert or starters. ther was no parking and was told to park on street at a cast of 2€ an hour so all and all not a great experience
The hotel was great staff and food very nice..only problem was the parking situation theirs limited parking we had to park in a nearby carpark at a rate of €14 per night but luckily enough we got parking on our 3rd night in hotel carpark

Initially our room was so small and stuffy, no air whatsoever, I called reception and they immediately facilitated me with a much bigger room with plenty of fresh air.
Staff was amazing from check in to breakfast and dinner, no parking it's not ideal as additional cost especially on longer stay, as weather was lovely room was way too hot (no air conditioning) overall lovely stay definitely recccomend
The location was great. One Small,Slow lift for a big hotel was not enough. The room was extremely hot with restrictions on window opening. Information on booking facilities and room cleaning (no cleaning)needs to be explained clearer.
Beautiful hotel and food is lovely also
Nice hotel, with very friendly and helpful staff. Decent breakfast and dinner was lovely, good size portions and very tasty. Room was fairly standard but perfectly acceptable. Minimal parking the only downside as we had to park on the street, but to be fair the location is great for exploring cork city.
We had a 5 night stay at the hotel on a bed and breakfast package. The hotel are doing their bed and doing a great job with their hygiene and protocols in place for safety of everyone. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was great 2 mornings and cold on the others. I was supporting a lady with limited mobility and other health issues. I could never get a disability parking place. One of them had the same car parked in it from the duration of our stay. No blue badge on it. I brought it to the attention of staff but it was not moved. The other space would always be taken up by a staff member. Receptionist would ask for it to be moved when I asked. On one occasion the man moving his car was quite rude and gave out because he had to move. I will say this upset my service user as she overheard comments. We did eat in the bar and restaurant and again everything was very nice.
Great location in cork city, fabulous staff, everywhere very clean with plenty of hand sanitizer available, beds were very comfortable, kids loved the pool, overall a brilliant few days away, thank you x

We as a group of 4 ladies stayed here on July 31st. From the minute we checked in we could not fault the hotel or staff especially staff. They had every precaution in place due to the covid 19 so we felt very safe. We had a meal in the bar which was fab each had something different & all enjoyed. We would all recommend this hotel & hope to be back in the future
The carpark is very small & we were blocked in on the the day of our departure for over 1 hour, but Joe the manager was extremely helpful and got it sorted. Otherwise all was good.
Fabulous hotel and staff are so mannerly. Food was fabulous and well looked after. Room was spotless and fresh when we arrived! Very good
Staff very friendly and helpful. Location great to walk to city centre. Parking wasn't brilliant but it was easy to park on street with a disc. Overall a handy Spot for a small break.
Fabulous hotel and staff are so mannerly. Food was fabulous and well looked after. Room was spotless and fresh when we arrived! Very good
Lovely hotel. Excellent staff especially Maria on reception and jordan and psionnia in restaurant.. great covid prevention in place.very centrally located.
Lovely staff very helpful pool a bonus
THIS HOTEL IS FAB, GREAT STAFF..ROOM BRILL. FAN IN ROOM GREAT, LOCATION GREAT. FOOD TOP CLASS. RIGHT BESIDE SHANDON BELLS. CANT WAIT TO GO BACK WITH MY WIFE. IF CAR PARK FULL DISCOUNT PARKING NEARBY. THANK YOU MALDRON.
Lovely hotel to stay in . Friendly staff and food is great.. only downside is they have only 20 car parking spaces that is free on a first come first serve basis.. even at a discounted paid parking that's 2 mins walk away at 14 euros for 24 hrs is still a bit steep per day. A more reasonable price should be around 8 euro So unless your lucky enough to arrive at the hotel and get a free space you will have to factor in this price to the overstay at this hotel..
Very friendly staff , breakfast was amazing. We went there on a deal dinner bed and breakfast Dinner had a limited choice and portion size was a little small
We enjoyed our first weekend away after being locked-up with the Covid-19 Pandemic. The central location, friendliness of the staff and management, the cleanliness of the entire hotel and the quality of the food in the morning, evening and throughout the day were a treat to behold. If there is a single downer it is to increase the capacity of the Car Park! Thanks again and we will be back later in the year despite the carpark!!!
The hotel restaurant and public toilets were very clean food was lovely and staff were amazing! However the rooms were not up to scratch they were very dusty, floors were dirty and stained and they were sickly warm could not sleep without a fan which in turn was blowing all the dust around we had rather sore throats leaving the hotel.
This hotel was very comfortable and clean. The food was very tasty . The staff through out the hotel cannot enough for their guest s . They are friendly ,efficient and helpful . I didn’t give a 5 stars as the bar was closed but this will change as the co vid restriction s are lifted . I hope to return to the hotel in the future

++++Excellent value break no complaints at all 100% satisfied +++++
Excellent hotel.! Very friendly staff and very accommodating. Beautiful rooms and a lovely breakfast is provided in a very tranquil quaint atmosphere within the dining room. i will certainly be back again.!
All in all a very pleasant trip for us. Small issue, breakfast slightly overcooked, parking at a premium. I would have no issues in recommending you Hotel to friends and relations, and hope to visit this area and hotel in the near future. Kind Regards Tom
We really enjoyed the stay. Very central and would come back. Staff were very friendly especially in the breakfast room. The bar could do some with background music.
Convenient location. We managed to get use of the car park which was a bonus. Straightforward hotel. Clean, without unnecessary frills. Good value on the day
What a nice hotel, bright, spacious, so clean, spacious rooms with high ceilings & loads of light from the big windows, very comfortable beds, a stroll & you're right in the heart of the city, would benefit from a little more parking, but that aside, I would highly recommend this hotel & will definitely being staying again.
I enjoyed my stay here, the location is excellent, breakfast is superb. But I didn't spend much time in the room as Cork City is just a walk away. Would recommend this hotel to anyone and look forward to coming back again, hopefully soon!
Everything was lovely in regards to the room, very clean lots of towels and hot water galore. Excellent location right in the city centre which was great! The breakfast was great too, I had to go up three times to sample a bit of everything that was on offer. Staff were lovely too. Only downfall was the parking. Very very limited parking. Both of their parking lots were full up so we had to search for on street parking which was 2 euro an hour, Luckily we only had to pay once because it was free on sundays and we arrived saturday evening, but not ideal if you stayed during the week! Great deal gotten with Bargain breaks, 50 euro cheaper than other sites.
Great location, high quality rooms, nice decor, friendly service. Only negative is parking, it's very limited and very tight spaces.
We had a fantastic overnight stay in the Maldron in Cork. Such a super location, just as advertised. Staff so friendly and facilities were great. Will definitely stay again and have already recommended it to friends.
The highlight of the bar food was the chips , slow with drink orders , food was average even. Room nice and clean , shower kept changing tempature . Central location which was a plus.breakfast was cold not overly impressed, the best part of the stay was the barman on Friday night residents bar, we were the only ones there and he was very friendly. That's it really I wouldn't be returning or recommending
VERY CENTRAL, WITHIN WALKING DISTANCE OF CITY CENTRE. FOOD EXCELLENT WITH FAST SERVICE. BREAKFAST OF HIGH QUALITY WITH FANTASTIC SERVICE FROM THE STAFF, WITH A WORD FOR EVERYBODY.PARKING IS A BIT OF A HIT AND MISS. BEDROOMS ARE GOOD VALUE AT PRICE.WILL RETURN.
Had a lovely stay in the Maldron.. we checked in on the Saturday of the June bank holiday to a large family room... it did not disappoint ... 3 single bed and a double.. suited our family and had loads of space.. with a family of 5 its not always easy to get a large room... food was fab... breakfast had a great choice and we had the dinner in our package .. was also fab great choice and plenty for children to pick from.. will go back .. the children loved the pool.. happy costumer...Denise ****
Great location, lovely staff and very good breakfast!
We enjoyed our stay here, the location is excellent, breakfast is superb! Our only niggle was that our hotel room looked out onto the corridor across and therefore we had to keep the curtains closed at all times for privacy, but we didn't spend much time in the room as Cork city is bustling. Would recommend this hotel to anyone and look forward to coming back again, hopefully soon!
We stayed in the Maldron for two nights, it was a very enjoyable experience. The Staff were very friendly and helpful, the room had a fantastic view of Shandon and was very clean and bright.
Lovely stay. Hotel is modern, clean and comfortable. Very good facilities, friendly & accommodating staff and good food. Location is walking distance to everything in Cork City. Note that there is limited parking onsite. Would definitely stay there again.
Had a really pleasant stay at the maldron. We had an evening meal and it was gorgeous ! Wasn't even expecting if to be so nice. The breakfast was also really good. Our room was clean and the staff were really more then helpful. An over all lovely stay ... No complaints
Had a lovely family stay at maldron for Christmas shopping
Excellent location the staff were very friendly and efficient. There was a problem with our original room but we were given an alternative room immediately . I would highly recommend this hotel and will definitely stay here again.
Stayed at the Maldron with my husband and 2 children on the 6th December, the hotel was excellent and in a great location within walking distance to the City. The hotel bedroom was spacious and in excellent condition and the hotel staff most friendly and helpful. I would highly recommend the Maldron Hotel!
Very nice hotel with very helpful staff great breakfast the next morning too but the lack of car parking and then having to walk to the alternative car park in pouring rain is far from ideal!!
Stayed here for the first time in late November. Very nice hotel, great location only 5 minutes walk from Cork city centre. Parking a bit of a lottery but got sorted in the end! Would definitely stay here again when travelling to Cork.
We had a great stay here on a Saturday night at the end of November. The music in the bar was great, with a great atmosphere. Lovely room very clean and great breakfast. Lovely staff. I loved getting my own tea, as it was hot when I wanted it. The only negative was the parking, We parked up the road as car park was full and got held in for approx. two hours on the Sunday morning by another car. Anne
Every member of staff was so welcoming and friendly. The room was a very big double room with a really comfy bed. Breakfast was lovely too. All in all very good value. The hotel is so convenient for shopping & the opera house- I would not stay anywhere else in Cork city. The little pub, Buckleys, at the end of the road was a little gem too. We'll be back....
The location of this hotel was excellent, very close to everything, however parking was an slight issue with very little parking at the hotel. I found the service very good and overall it was great value. I would only say that the hotel room was a little cold when we arrived but it warmed up.
We had a very enjoyable stay on November 6 2015. The bedroom was very spacious, clean and warm. Breakfast was very good. All the staff we met were cheerful and helpful. We will definitely be back. Mary, Dublin
Hello myself & my husband had a recent stay in the Maldron Hotel in cork city & it was just fantastic. The location was excellent & also the staff were more than helpful. We were so well looked after couldnt fault anything bar the tidy carpark!!
Stayed here with my husband and teenage sons. Booked two rooms a twin room and a double room, have to say both rooms were lovely. We had a meal that evening and breakfast the following morning the food was really nice and great value. All the staff we met were very friendly. Will definitely go going back in the future. Hotel is in a great position for shopping in town or a visit to the Cork Opera House .
Rooms were beautiful and staff were very friendly, would recommend this hotel to friends and family.
STAFF FRIENDLY,ROOMS VERY GOOD,BAR FOOD AND BREAKFAST,REASONABLY GOOD,COULD DO WITH SOME EVENING MUSIC IN THE BAR,LEISURE CENTRE VERY GOOD.
Superb hotel, excellent location, courteous & welcoming staff. All you could want & more from a city centre hotel; it will certainly become our base when visiting Cork again.
Stayed there 2 nights September 1 and 2. We enjoyed our stay. The new manager was on the ball keeping an eye on everything. The staff were very helpful and friendly. Room spotless. Food was good. The atmosphere was delightful all the staff working together to make sure you enjoyed your stay there. Annie and Brenda, Clonmel annie and Brenda
We had a really good time, We have been there before will in all probability go again. The staff are friendly & helpful & the service is very good. The only thing that would be helpful is if the number of parking spaces could be increased at the hotel itself.
We loved everything, million dollar view from our room, location and best you can get fish&chips at the restaurant! Wonderful experience! Would stay again! Albert and Alex
This is a 3 star Hotel it was my second stay here with my wife on a two night break to Cork City location good only 5/10 mins to city center ,Staff were very helpful and friendly,We were in room 408 no view but room large and clean great showers ,Dining area re done looked nice and clean very good breakfast nice selection of Cereals,Fruit Breads and lovely cooked breakfast good service from staff will stay here again.
This was our second time to stay at the Maldron. Its central location is ideal. The staff are friendly, helpful and professional. The rooms are good and well kept. We do not drive to the hotel, so I cannot speak about parking. As long as prices stay reasonable, I will continue to use it. Thus the 4 stars.
Had two stays in the Maldron recently, the hotel is only 5 mins from the city, yet its a quite location. The staff are very help full and friendly. We had a large clean room. The food lets the Maldron down big time, the breakfast tastes like it was cooked two days previous, we had dinner two nights and the food was awful. I will stay there again but will dine out next time .
LOVELY ROOM LOVELY BREAKFAST BUT THE SWIMMING POOL WAS CLOSED THE TWO MORNINGS OF OUR STAY WAS VERY DISAPPOINTING AND WORK GOING ON IN THE HOTEL DURING OUR STAY AS WE WERE THERE FOR A FAMILY FUNERAL WE HAD HOPED FOR OUR STAY TO BE MORE ENJOYABLE WHILE WE WERE THERE
Hi My daughter and I stayed there in Sept. The hotel was difficult to find, parking was also limited. I had to park on the street. The hotel is shabby and needs upgrade. Food in bar was good but breakfast was very poor and limited choices. The hotel staff were very helpful, friendly and professional.
The location of the hotel is really great, it is only a ten minutes walk into the city centre. The hotel itself is very old fashioned and could do with a make over. Carpets are dirty, pool area has seen better days. Well, if there would be any hot water in the morning it wouldn't be too bad... The breakfast selection is extremely poor.
Really friendly staff, great pool, great location a short walk over bridge and out of city centre. Tourist bus only 14 Euro and offers hop-on-hop-off service right beside hotel. Breakfast good and Wi-Fi available in room. On the negative we were not able to park at hotel as spaces very limited so parked street-side using disks available from reception. Also our room décor maybe a little 'tired' but very good value for money all round so will stay again next time in Cork. Will certainly use Lidl Hotel Breaks for future bookings as prices unbeatable!
location was perfect, staff very pleasant and helpful, had use of leisure club, free wifi,,i thought the furniture was out dated, we would certainly stay there again, very good value price wise.
STAYED FOR ONE NIGHT LOVELY HOTEL BUT THE STAFF ARE SO RUDE IT IS UNREAL. OUR MEAL WAS INCLUDED SO I ORDERED WINE WITH MY HUSBAND A WAITRESS PUT 2 BURGERS AND CHIPS IN FRONT OF MY 2 SONS WHICH ARE 9 AND 7. I SAID I DIDNT ORDER THEM I WAS PERSUADED I DID .IN A VERY ABRUPT MANNER IT GOT SO BAD MY 2 BOYS GOT A FRIGHT.WE WALKED OUT AND WENT SOME WHERE ELSE TO EAT.IM USEING LIDL BREAKS SINCE THEY SET UP NEVER REALLY HAD REASON TO COMPLAIN BUT I WOULD RATE THIS HOTEL 1 STAR'.I T WAS SHOCKING EXPERIENCE .GILLIAN.
stayed one night 29/5/2014 the price was very reasonable. the meal included in the price was delicious. the girl that took the order was very helpful with our requests. the staff were very friendly. on the minus side, the room was overlooking a roof on one side. the other side was the city with not a very pleasant view. the room was very small for two people. very noisy during the day due to the traffic. would not stay there again.
We stayed in the maldron on 22/05/2014, hotel staff were very nice and friendly. We were in a small attic style room the bed was not very comfortable the furniture very old and badly marked and in dire need of a change to update the room the carpet was very stained even though it was non smoking room there we're burn marks on the carpet. We ate in the restaurant and the food was great. The hotel overall needs a complete makeover as there is a lot of unnecessary cosmetic damage like broken tiles etc. thing that would be easy to fix. I don't think I would stay there again.
I would strongly advise against staying at this hotel, the staff were not pleasant and Denis the manager was rude and unhelpful. Added to this our room was not ready when we arrived which was 45 minutes after the two o clock check in, having driven for 3hrs on a warm day this was poor service. The leisure centre was ok but the Jacuzzi was cold. I would not return to the Maldron Hotel Cork even for free.
We enjoyed our stay in the Maldron Hotel. The rooms are lovely and very clean. The menu is very good and the food is excellent. The staff are very efficient and friendly. The hotel is very central to the city centre and shopping. We would stay there again.
Have stayed in the Maldron hotel many times.Have never been disappointed.Kids love the swimming pool. The rooms are lovely and very clean. The bar menu is very good and the food is excellent. The staff are very friendly. The hotel is very central to the city, about a 2 min walk and your in the city centre. Will be back again.
I had a lovely stay with my friend in this hotel. The staff were all very friendly, the breakfast and dinner in the hotel was lovely and it has a great location, 5 mins walk from the main shopping streets. I will certainly book here again and also other hotels under the Lidl Breaks offer. It is great value and the choice of hotels is extensive. Thank you.
We stayed one night and were very satisfied with our room and the breakfast. The hotel is very convenient for the city centre and the shops. Great to have free parking as well. Will come again.
Stayed in the Maldron hotel from the 6 of December till the 9 of December 3 nights hotel was excellent very good value for money staff very pleasant and helpful hotel is near shops and local bus service I would certainly return there Very satisfied customers Kay Mary
Was really pleased with our stay. Rooms clean and comfortable. Dinner excellent. Breakfast very good. Staff lovely and helpful. Central location. Excellent value. Will definately stay there again. Thank you.
We were two sisters staying for a saturday night only. Parking is very limited but many cars double parked and it didnt seem to cause any hassle by the time we left at 9.30 am on sunday. We found parking on the nearby street. We were very happy with the accomodation and service we got. The staff were friendly and helpful. We also had the 2 course evening meal and thought it was tasty. The dining room was a bit empty as we were the later seating so ambience a bit lacking. The breakfast was buffet style and there seemed to be a good choice but no porridge (we didnt ask)!.Goldilock had some fruit instead. Being in the old part of the city, it felt as if we were in Italy and seeing all the family groups with children did lend a festive feel to it. We enjoyed our stay and it was excellent value as we booked through Irish rail. I would recommend. Joan
We had a good stay food and leisure center were the best things about this hotel. I got a phone call the day before my stay to say I was booked for a different day my booking was correct via Lidl booking system but was booked incorrectly at hotel. I got a phone-call on the morning of my arrival to confirm the rate which was already guaranteed and confirmed when booking so couldn't understand the meaning of this call. When we checked in we were given a double room not a family room. The room was dirty and used when as we entered and we asked to be moved. All our problems was with the reservation staff everything else was very pleasing and we were happy with our stay.
Staff really friendly and very helpful, food was delicious, and room cosy. The only downside was that I thought that the changing rooms in the leisure centre were a little grubby, but the pool was great! We travelled by bus and the hotel was only a short distance away and very convenient for the town.
Unfortunately when we arrived the hotel hadn't our booking. Denis on reception found alternative accommodation in the Montenotte for 1 night. He also organised one of the staff to guide us directly to this hotel as it is quite confusing to navigate Cork city. Our deal was for b&b & dinner for 2 adults and as an apology the Maldron gave us the same for our child for both nights and of course covered the costs in the Montenotte where we had an Excellent evening meal and enjoyed the leisure centre. Our preference would have been to remain in this hotel but we had to return to the Maldron for our last night. We were not disappointed with our stay there where we had a lovely room with a view of the Shandon church and enjoyed the leisure centre and meals. The friendliness and professionalism of the staff in both hotels was top notch but particularly the Maldron which I felt was more child friendly. The Maldron is also within a comfortable walking distance of Cork city and I would recommend it.
Staff: Friendly and helpful Room: Bed very comfortable, plenty of towels but room was a little on the small side, very little room for maneuver, although our friends room was huge so I suppose it's pot-luck. The room was clean, everything worked. Amenities: Good Dining room lacked atmosphere, more of a feeling of a canteen Food: Both starters and desserts were very good and the main course was good
We stayed in the Maldron for our first time. We picked it because of it's location (right in centre of Cork). On arrival we were met by a very pleasant member of staff who gave us all the details and amenities the hotel had to offer. I was a bit skeptical about the hotel as friends had stayed here previously and said it was not up to scratch. We were pleasantly surprised with our room which seemed to have been freshly painted and the bathroom seemed newly fitted out with sparkling taps, shower etc. Our stay was for three days. Everything rang smoothly for first couple of days, although I did find the breakfast very limited and plain. On our third day after arriving back at the hotel, I noticed the bed did not seem to have been made properly and on further inspection, found that the mattress cover was crumpled beneath the sheet. On closer inspection I was horrified to see that the mattress cover was exceptionally dirty (brown stains all over it). This was so unacceptable. I immediately removed it from the bed. I was disgusted to think that we had slept for two nights on dirty bedwear. I decided to have a cup of tea at that stage and when I opened the kettle to fill with water there was a brown rim all around the inside. Again on closer inspection and using a tissue, there was brown residue inside the kettle. Water does not leave a brown stain inside a kettle. Obviously someone had used it as a teapot. The point is the kettle was obviously not checked when the room had previously been cleaned. These things to me would be standard cleanliness. I would ask the management to have closer inspections of these matters. Even though they would not put me off staying again, there is no excuse for these things to be overlooked. Otherwise we had a very pleasant stay. Room Tip: Ask for a room at back of hotel as the street can be quite noisy especially early in the morning.
My husband and myself were staying in the hotel on a LIdl break. We arrived the receptionist was very nice. We were assigned to our room, on entering the room there was a strong smell of cigarette smoke, we continued into the room to find that the floor had not been hovered, I checked the bathroom and the towels in there were of very poor quality in fact they were only suitable for dish cloths. I went to reception and asked for the room to be cleaned and for proper towels to be placed in our room. We went out for a few hours on returning we found that the towels were replaced but the room was not cleaned. Also on a health and safety note there was a plastic bag over the smoke alarm which I was very cross over. I went down to reception again and this time I spoke to the manager and told him of the room, we were then moved to another room which was clean and comfortable. This is not the standard that I expected from the Maldron Hotel I expected a high level of cleanliness.
My friend and I both enjoyed our stay in the Maldron. The food was excellent value for the early bird dinner,4 courses for less than 20 euro and a good choice. the staff were very helpful and courteous. The room was spotless and spaceous. Exactly where I requested it to be IIt is difficult to mention one staff member in particular but Darren remembered me from my last stay there, it is nice to be remembered. Annie / Brenda, Clonmel. 3 stars
Our arrival was greeted with very friendly staff at the reception desk this followed through the hotel from the restaurant to the leisure centre. The bedroom was comfortable but could do with an updating. The food was beautiful and great value in both the restaurant and the Bells Bar. It is a pity the car park is not bigger. The proximity to the city centre is super just a 10 min walk away. We definitely will stay again.
Very good hotel, not ur usual generic stuff, very Friendly staff, parking in the hotel in pretty poor Doh,not enough car park spaces !!
Average 3 star hotel. The restaurant staff were distracted by a large tour group and a little dismissive at dinner. The waitress supervising breakfast was rude. The hotel itself was clean. The leisure receptionist was very friendly and helpful. The swimming pool was nice. Smell of mold from steam room was concerning, I do not believe mold spores are a health benefit!
My wife and I stayed here for a weekend break and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The city centre is only a few minutes walk away for shopping, restaurants and great nightlife. We had a double room which we found large and spacious with a comfy bed, Breakfast was lovely with a wide choice We would definitely stay again.
The hotel itself is conveniently located near the city center. Room was clean and more than adequate for the price I paid, and staff were professional and diligent. We could use the leisure center facilities (pool, sauna, jacuzzi, etc.) for free as well, which was a plus. Only low point was the quality of breakfast. Sausages were thin and fairly tasteless, and "juice" was coloured water coming out of a machine. So definitely room for improvement there. Other than that, I wouldn't have an issue staying at the Maldron again.
Very Centrally located hotel . Although did have to ask for a room exchange (put into a smoking room asked for a non smoking room). Parking very poor especially when you have to pay for street parking €2.00per hour. Staff very nice
Staff very friendly, food lovely and very good value. Great location very central. Bedrooms comfortable . Would return to hotel again : )
I stayed here for 2 nights over a weekend and I have to say it is one of the nicest hotels I have ever stayed in! The hotel location is very easy to get to and the only flaw I saw with regard to this was the limited amount of parking. However they do mention this on the website so one cannot say they were not informed. I got a bus to Cork so parking was not an issue for me, but the hotel is located very close to the major bus/train station so I did not have to walk far. The room was very clean and also very peaceful at night so my sleeping was not disturbed. My favourite aspect about the hotel has to be the friendliness of the staff. I cannot commend them highly enough as they really made our stay so enjoyable. I have to say they were by far the friendliest reception staff I have ever encountered and on arrival they were having a friendly converse behind the desk which for me showed a very positive atmosphere. I found them to be very efficient and very courteous. Breakfast was included with our stay and again I was very happy with the service here also. We did not have to queue on any morning for a table, all tables were cleared and re-set immediately after visitors left and again in this department there was a real atmosphere of team spirit. The food was freshly cooked and very enjoyable. I chose this hotel purely on the basis that i needed somewhere to stay close to the city centre at short notice and it provided the best value. However after staying there it is a place I sincerely hope to return to again in the near future. Next time I return to Cork this will definitely be my first accomodation preference!
We had a good stay in the Maldron Hotel in Cork, our triple room was a good size, staff were friendly and helpful.
Stayed for two nights with children. Staff very friendly, food very nice, room clean but only ok. The beds were comfortable but the door was partially falling off the wardrobe. No seat cover on the toilet in the bathroom and it seemed our room was over a unit that sounded like a washing machine at night. There was a "retired couple" in the room next door and enjoyed banging doors which I found extremely rude and that kind of rudeness cannot be excused when there are other people staying in the hotel. Would I stay here again, yes I would for the convenience to the city & the friendly staff but next time I'ld check over the room regarding the above issues before settling on that room.
Stayed here for one nite.. Was very central as we were going to concert in Opera House.. Only issue is Parking is very limited (which they make you aware of on the Hotel) but plenty on street parking.. Staff were friendly and food was good also;)
We had a fabulous time .Staff were very helpful and friendly . Could not fault anything about our stay.
Excellent - staff so helpful and pleasant - only stayed one nght and no complaints - Great value and right in centre with easy access to all areas. - parking as advised on website is restricted but plenty of street disc parking outside and parking discs sold at hotel reception. Had bar food which was very good. Willl be back !!
Bedrooms lovely slightly dated decor wise but had comfy beds and lovely plump pillows and duvet, tons of storage space,'huge bathroom with lovely power shower and a real hairdryer not one of those wall mounted rubbish ones. Leisure centre excellent, changing rooms showers left a lot to be desired but we showered in our room so no probs. Food excellent from breakfast to dinner. Staff second to none...absolutely excellent. Would recommend this hotel.
Hotel was nice, food fab, room fab .... Stafff extremely friendly!! Would recommend this hotel.
Very enjoyable stay. Staff were excellent. Very friendly. Marie and Noel August
The photos do not live up expectations. The Maldron in Cork is run down and tired. On leaving the lift the first thing I saw were splotches of white paint on orange coloured walls. The carpet in the room itself was stained which gave an impression of it being dirty. Not a hotel I would recommend. Paid a similar rate for a four star hotel in Kilkenny - and there was no comparison whatsoever to the Maldron - thankfully.
it was ok staff were friendly and room was comfortable but parking was an issue and they had a bird scarer outside our room and it would be going off from early morning.
When the only options were Double and Single at time of booking I was extremely surprised to get a twin and triple room....I also asked for the Double room to be on the ground floor or near a lift and this was not offered..with the triple room which was given instead of a double being the furthest room from the lift. Otherwise the generous basket of chips and cocktail sausages were definitely so but one would have done the 3 of us in the group. The breakfast was good, but salt needed refilling and jugs would have been useful!!! Simple and nice, clean but a little dated...
The Maldron in Cork may be rated a 3 star, but it's certainly a boarder line 4 star no doubt! My girlfriend and I stayed there recently midweek & loved it! The room was great, the meal was great & the hotel looks really nice! No real problems to report on, except the price of drinks in the bar but that's standard with almost every hotel at this stage in this country! Staff were very helpful and friendly & everyone we spoke to seemed to enjoy their stay also! Will look forward to returning :)
My partner and I stayed here for two nights recently, the Hotel is in a very good location, within 5/10 walk from Patrick's Street. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Our room was on the 5th floor and had a lovely view over Cork City. The room was comfortable and clean but one fault we found was that the room was cold during the day and too hot at night. We had to block the windows with towels and the curtain's to keep our the draught during the day and leave the windows open at night. The food served in this hotel is very disappointing, we eat in the bar on our first night the food was okay not great. Breakfast was served from 7.30am to 10.30am, I got to the restaurant about 09.50am on our first morning, there was a selection of Tinned Fruit, Fruit Juices and Cereals. The Orange juice was watered down, the food in the hot counter was very disappointing, on asking a member of staff if that was it? she informed me that the chef was making more scrambled egg and bacon but as I was the last person down or something to that effect. The plus side to the breakfast was I could make my own tea and toast my own bread, but as usual the selection of jams was Strawberry or Orange Marmalade which I detest (Why oh Why do Irish Restaurants and Hotels only serve these two varieties). In fairness to the Chef he did cook fresh bacon and scrambled egg for me. Our breakfast on the second morning was a little bit better there was even yogurts to go with the Tinned fruit and the orange juice tasted like orange juice, the hot food was a little hotter and fresher than the day before. My advice to anybody thinking of booking Bed & Breakfast is just book Bed only and walk approx 5/10 mts to Patrick Street where there any number of Coffee Shops/Restaurants where you can buy a decent breakfast.
I stayed in the maldron hotel, cork with my daughter for two nights over the easter holidays. We had a fantastic time. Our room was so clean and spacious and the staff were so friendly, welcoming and helpful at reception. We were also happy with the lovely breakfast. The one and only downside was myself and my daughter went to go for a swim at 7pm one evening and when after getting changed into our swim gear, and going in the pool, we were informed that kids were not allowed in the pool after 7pm. We were disappointed that we were not informed of this beforehand. I think that kids over 12 years of age should be allowed use the pool until at least 8pm in the evening.
