Good points: very comfortable bed, roomy, overall well presented. Breakfast experience fine. Housekeeping staff receptive/pleasant Needs attention: off putting screen at reception. Female receptionist slow to interact. Aware that this was our first visit,she did not explain that the room fob operated the lift and to exit the car park to press the button. Both situations caused unnecessary confusion as we lounged about until another guest operated the lift. In the car park we were scrambling to get coins to operate the barrier. She failed to advise to ring the doorbell to gain entry. On returning late, the bar door was locked. After a time a security guard came and showed us the doorbell. The staff were slow opening the door; this was after a teen disco which may explain the delay. Next morning the male receptionist seemed more receptive. He asked had we used the car park and he made us aware of the button to lift the barrier. I would recommend the Kilford Arms to others, but I would advise on the above situation. The above informed my generous 4 rating, as the highlighted issues can be overcome.

Can’t fault the hotel or staff & the breakfast was very good. The room was clean & the bed was comfortable. There’s no air con but there was a fan in the room. The only thing I would say is the bathroom needed a little updating but overall we had a great stay.

The receptionist was a lovely lady and explained everything to us on our arrival ie. Where breakfast was being served, the bars and restaurant etc. The hotel itself is basic and in need of updating. We had our evening meal in the main bar/ lounge and it was quite nice. Out of 10 I would rate our meal 6.5. The bedroom was very basic and in need of updating. Would we go back - No. Would we recommend the hotel - No.

Was a worthwhile Trip for myself and my partners Anniversary. Location central and ideal for shopping. Food in the Pub was excellent and cosy atmosphere. Would strongly recommend !

All of the staff we met were friendly, professional and very helpful. We enjoyed lovely food with great pints of Guinness. It appeared that management were hands on & were driving quality through a great team. The central location of hotel was excellent. My husband and I enjoyed our short break in the hotel.

We have stayed in the Kilford Arms several times. Keep going back because we always feel so welcome. The staff are great . Always so welcomeing. The food is superb. The rooms are spotless. We have introduced a lot of our friends to the hotel and they keep coming back now. We love Alison and John and its lovely when they come over to chat.

We had a really enjoyable experience at the kilford arms. The lady at reception was so welcoming and got us checked in early despite check in being 3pm and we arrived at 12. The rooms are kept to a high standard and clean . The breakfast had a wide variety of hot and cold food. We will definitely return :)

Great hotel very friendly staff.rooms lovely and clean. Park up your car and leave it there untill you are ready to go home. Two minutes to the town. This was our fourth time staying in the kilford Arms. We will definitely be staying there again

This was our 20 something stay in the Kilford and all have been excellent, lovely staff,a great pint of Guinness, good food,a lovely freshly cooked breakfast in the morning, music some nights and in the heart of the city,what's not to like.

Really happy with it. Was cheap and cheerful. Slept perfect, ridiculously full from the range they had for brekfast. Only reason it's a 4 instead of 5 was the shower was cold, but I didn't tell anyone cause I wasn't too bothered by it.

We enjoyed our stay at the Kilford Arms hotel we have stayed there before and we like the hotel and staff are friendly and helpful. Hotel is very central and has a carpark. We always return to the Kilford if we are staying in Kilkenny.

Had a fabulous stay Friday with friends nothing too much trouble .Spotless rooms and so many bars in house to choose from.great location five mins walk from train station and 5 mins walk from everywhere else pubs restaurants shops.Cant wait to go back

Great night away with husband, very impressed with hotel. Great location and ample parking. What stood out the most was the staff, so friendly and helpful. From receptionist, waitress staff, bar staff and especially Michael the night manager. Look forward to returning and highly recommend.

Smell of must in the room and especially the lbathroom. Had dinner the first night. Turkey, ham and stuffing bland. Vegetables, a few chips and mash were all overlapping on the plate. Food presentation was very poor and not appetising.

Great value, food very good, rooms basic but clean. Very central. Only down fall was room we were giving for family room 55 was straight overhead nightclub door it wasn't even the noise of music that bothered us it was the screaming lingering teenagers going in and out of club not ideally with a toddler.

Our third time to stay here. I have not submitted a review before but after three hassle free trips, I think that it is time. Rooms are comfy and spacious. Beds are very comfortable. Food is excellent and the service was faultless. The Hotel may be a bit Dated but this is more than compensated for with the quality of service and value for money.

We enjoyed a very inexpensive break in this quirky hotel built around the ruins of an old Church -very unusual. Room seemed to have been recently refurbished and was very pleasant. The city centre location meant we didn't need the car.Food was served all day and reasonably priced.All the staff we met were friendly and helpful. We would stay here again especially at the price we paid.

Wat a lovely hotel Kilford Arm’s is I went with my sister for a 3day midweek break. The staff are so lovely they can’t do enough for you The hotel is spotless Kilkenny is a great spot a lot of pubs with music I thought it was great for midweek I wud recommend The Kilford Arm’s hotel very central And I wud have never got tere. Lovely hotel. Room was large and bed comfortable. All facilities in the room including a safe. Breakfast was delicious. Had an evening meal on one of the evenings - was really nice. Staff were very nice and helpful. Would definitely stay here again and would highly recommend to my friends.

Rooms very very basic and the room we were in had no window which in this day and age I think is a bit poor especially when every room was the same price. Hotel itself like reception area was lovely and the food in the bar was beautiful. I would return to the hotel but would definitely be asking for a room with a window.

We find the Kilford Arms hotel very good and the staff very friendly. There is free parking and it is very central to the city of Kilkenny. We stay there a lot and look forward to the breakfast but this time we found the breakfast just o.k. there was a big crowd for the breakfast but this was not the problem the scrambled eggs were awful and they are usually nice but there seemed to be a taste of fish off them for some reason also a lot of the breakfast was cold normally the breakfast is lovely and always hot, but we still enjoyed our stay.

My goodness , this must be the most depressing hotel in Ireland . No welcome from reception , staff all roaming around frowning and looking lost. Horrible atmosphere , no wonder they are offering cheap deals. The management either haven't a clue or don't care about running a hotel properly . In fairness, the food was decent and a good portion but when it's slapped down on the table it leaves a sour taste in the mouth. I don't think anyone would ever come back, we certainly won't be. Also, the room we were given was a mile away from the lift and above the main road. Never got a winks sleep all night due to party goers and traffic. Informed receptionist next day and was smartly told it would be quieter tonight. I asked to change room and she reluctantly agreed. Customer service in this country is non existent . Upon checkout we expected to be asked how was our stay. They never even bothered to ask. Sadly I think this hotel will be in trouble down the line, avoid if you want to enjoy Kilkenny.

Good evening, Just a note of thanks on behalf of my wife and myself for our recent stay in the Kilford Arms. We stayed 2 nights from 05-07/09/2023 in Room 55. We had a wonderful stay and your staff were of the highest order. They were mannerly and courteous at all times which made our stay more enjoyable Can we give a special mention to Sophia who looked after us for our evening meal on Wednesday. She went out of her way to make the evening meal enjoyable and she was so mannerly she is a great credit to herself. Can you pass on our thanks to her. We will certainly be returning and anyone who asks us about your hotel we will highly recommend it Mary and Kieran O Hanlon

We thoroughly enjoyed our trip to Kilkenny and the stay in the Kilford Arms Hotel. Our room was big and very clean, very comfortable beds and an excellent breakfast in the restaurant, which is designed to keep in mind, the history of Kilkenny castle. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly and very efficient and professional in their duties. Our dinner was beautiful and there is a big car park to the rear of the hotel which is free for guests. This hotel is very central to everything in Kilkenny, an ideal location for any trip.

My boyfriend and I spent 3 days at this hotel for his birthday celebration recently and I couldn't recommend it enough! The staff were so friendly and accommodating to us, even singing happy birthday at the end of dinner. The food was phenomenal and the room was so comfortable and cosy as well as the facilities working great. 5 stars 100%

The lovely lady on reception when we checked in Sunday afternoon should be an ambassador for Kilkenny.., and the hotel! Such a positive first impression, and we subsequently really enjoyed our stay. Great breakfast, very comfy room and generally very positive. We were late bookers, and our room was overlooking the alleyway to the carpark and the pub next door was playing a constant diet of country and Irish music, hence the 4 instead of 5 stars! :-) Seriously though, lovely place and highly recommended!! Oh - the 11.00 breakfast deadline is a winner!!! Nothing worse than having to rush in the morning for a bite, and the later deadline here was a very welcome surprise!!!

The Hotel is very central to see everything by walking. Barfood is lovely. Breakfast nothing special, but OK. Good things of the Rooms there have a nice size. Very clean. Every day for each a bottle water and you can do your own coffee or tea. Not so good was the Room was very hot, still as we leave the window open. The shower curtain was in a light material what always stick to your body by showering.

Love staying in the Kilford Arms. It is so close to the train station and the town. There was approx 20 people in our group and not one of us has a complaint. The staff are so friendly and helpful Sheila and all the girls on receiptionand the bar staff the entertainers but expecially Ali who served us breakfast. We hope to be back again soon.

The hotel rooms are a little dated but perfectly clean and comfortable. Perfect location in the heart of kilkenny city with free on site parking. The food was delicious and the staff were so friendly. It was our first time staying and we will definitely stay again.

Stayed one night in hotel with breakfast and evening meal. The staff were very helpful, the food was good, the rooms were comfortable and very clean. The hotel location was excellent to get to the tourist attractions. I would definitely stay at the hotel again.

Ckeck-in. Receptionist Jean,100%. Room spotless, 100%. Downhill after that. 30mins in, at 4.30pm the thump thump music started. Spoke to Jean, were moved to diff area of hotel but same noise still going at 2am. Had dinner in the hotel, not in a dining room but the bar????, grumpy waiter, service & "meal" awful. Valentines nite No effort made by the hotel management. Breakfast greeting,- "name, do you know what you want to eat or do you want a menu"?????

Easy check in. Lovely receptionist. We were allowed to check in early which was great and managed to get a lovely soup and sandwich in the hotel bar before we explored Kilkenny. Great to have free parking, very central and a nice big room also. A nightclub/late bar attached so great for a late drink before bed. Our second time staying so will definitely stay again and recommend the hotel.

Had a lovely 2 night break recently in Kilford Arms. Very convenient location in city centre with free parking. Within walking distance of shops and shopping centres. Highly recommend Kilford Arms. Great location approx 10min to town centre, 5min to train station. Lovely staff, so welcoming & friendly in all areas of the hotel. Food is excellent with huge selection to choose from. Cooked breakfast is made to order. Self service area with wide selection of continental breakfast options. Free car park for guests. Rooms were available early to check in and were spacious & spotless with tea/coffee making facilities and bottled water included. Bathroom spotless with great shower. Bars are great, so comfortable with plenty of different areas to relax in whether you want to enjoy a quiet drink, listen to music or watch tv. Loved it here and will definitely return again.

Booked the 2nt 2 breakfast with one evening meal of 2 courses plus tea/coffee. Checking in was good, room basic, but comfortable and clean, bathroom was disappointing. We decided to have the dinner on the first night. Very basic menu and the food and service wasn't good. We asked for the bill so we could pay for the wine, when we noticed that the "complimentary coffee" was charged for. When we pointed this out the bar staff said we should pay for it, but when we queried this and they checked with reception, they stated that on this occasion they wouldn't charge for the coffee. This seemed like they were doing us a favour. I went to reception to clear up the situation, when the same member of bar staff became very irate, telling me to "pack your bag and get out, that you have been trouble all evening". We felt very uncomfortable, but stayed the night. The next morning the breakfast was ok and service was good. We decided that we didn't want to stay the second night and agreed with the receptionist to have a refund for one nights room rate. This receptionist was very dry and did not wish us well on our way. I realise that this started over an error about the coffee on the hotel's part, but how it ended was very poor customer service. Obviously staff should be made aware of the booking conditions and what is included. Unfortunately I could not recommend this hotel to anyone.

Very happy with most aspects. I am a wheelchair user and it wasn’t very wheelchair accessible. You had to come out the front door of the hotel and enter the bar or restaurant through another door on the Main Street. We were lucky it wasn’t raining. The ramp here is a few inches to short to be a ramp. Then I had to get out and walk up the steps to the restaurant. So there was actually no wheelchair access to the restaurant. We would definitely go back though. Staff were lovely and helpful. Food was gorgeous, room was lovely and all very reasonably priced.

We checked into the hotel on Wednesday we arrived to Kilkenny at around 12:30 lunchtime. We decided to ask the hotel could we store our bags if we where too early to check in, but to be told our room was ready. The room itself was clean lovely view and very comfy. Staff very friendly and helpful and both residents bars lovely for a quiet drink and dinner. The breakfast was incredible and our dinner option the food was delicious. I would highly recommend staying in this hotel and I plan on using irishminibreaks.ie again.

We stayed in this hotel for 4 days, they followed present restrictions perfectly, at any stage we didnt feel as if we were at risk. We had a twin room which was great , the only niggle I had was in the bathroom you had to climb over bath to have a shower and as I have arthritis it proved difficult. The food in hotel was superb and had good choices. I would reccomend this hotel and will definitely stay there again.

It was our second trip to your hotel this year. We absolutely loved it. Staff were extremely nice and we're always on hand to assist us in any way. Food was excellent, we didn't go elsewhere for our meals it was so good. Breakfast was great with a large choice of food. Staff there were very attentive and nice. Bedrooms are spotless and very comfortable. We have already recommended The Kilford Arms to many friends here in Derry and we ourselves would not hesitate to go back. We chose The Kilford Arms as a welcome break after the Lockdowns. It has a bright and very clean appearance, 2 bars, beer garden, and restaurant. Big Screen and televisions for Sport. Staff were efficient and took time to talk to people, special mention due to Ella in Bar and Don in Restaurant. Room was small with some noise from a bar across the way, when mentioned to Manager Pius, he moved us very quickly to a quieter room. Food: very good Breakfast, excellent Evening Meal. We booked an extra night on this occasion and will definitely return.

The room was lovely but owing to the extreme hot weather it was a little uncomfortable to sleep at night. Not the hotels fault. They did supply fans. Kilkenny is a lovely place to visit. What didn't help further to this the round window was screwed closed in room 36 my freinds room and it was like a oven and nothing was done even after being reported

Staff were brilliant and the hotel and room were clean . The weather for our 3 day stay was 30 degrees daily and unfortunately there was not a breath of cold air anywhere in the hotel barring the reception . There was small fans in the rooms but the round windows were screwed shut so no ventilation and it was reported but not amended for room 36 . Barring the heat and ventilation issue the hotel has great location friendly clean and has a good breakfast if included in your deal .

The location of the hotel is ideal and there is on site parking hence I would recommend it for that. The hotel is a bit tired & grotty looking and could do with a sprucing up. The glass doors into reception have so many stickers on them it doesn't look very inviting. Not all staff members followed the current guidelines for COVID-19 i.e. either to socially distance or wear a mask/face covering when unable to social distance. In general there was a lot of staff on duty during breakfast & in the bar but not all were aware or vigilant that customers should come before there social chats.

Excellent hotel. We arrived on early train at 11.40 and reception were able to give us our room on arrival. Lovely big family room. Hotel very near to train station and also Mc Donagh Junction Shopping Centre.. Only a 4 minute walk down to the Castle and main shopping area.. Dinner was included on 1 night and was lovely. Breakfast was cooked fresh and brought to our table as not many were staying in the hotel Lovely hotel . Midweek stay from Sunday-Wednesday.

Kilford arms is a lovely hotel. Well situated in the heart of Kilkenny city. Rooms are lovely and I loved the adjustable thermostat on the radiators. Sometimes hotel rooms can be too warm but that wasn't a problem here. Hotel very quite so good nights sleep. Breakfast was lovely and plenty of it. Staff were lovely too. We recently stayed here for 3nights. I had asked for quiet rooms and we got them. We found the staff very friendly and helpful. It was early in the week, so no partying or noise. Rooms were very clean and the food was fine for the money. It was superb value for money and very central.

Hotel rooms were fine with facilities of a 4* (kettle, iron, hairdryer) but the dinner we got was truly awful. Breakfast was fine. We told both restaurant manager and front desk lady and she was to look into it but we heard nothing at all. Would not consider staying there again.

Car parking fantastic, wish I could say the same for the rest of the hotel, room could do with a visit from the Brennan brothers, view from the room well I don't no the glass was stained. Breakfast lovely, waiter very friendly. Dinner horrible, thankfully a lot other options to dine out in the town. Would I return no way.

What can I say, wonderful staff, location and hotel. We had a lovely stay in the Kilford Arms Hotel. We will be definitely back to stay again. Michael was so helpful as were all the staff. Such friendly people and nothing was every a bother. I liked the relaxed ways of the people and so professional at all times. They have a great way about them. Its like one big happy family. I'd recommend anyone staying in the hotel. The location is just excellent.

My wife and I arrived at the Kilford Arms on Tues 22nd April 2014 for 2BB1D. First of all, the car park at the rear of the hotel was very handy. The lady at receiption (Anna) was very welcoming. The room was clean, tidy and peaceful. We had the evening meal the first night. It was very tasty. The French and Portuguese waiters were very helpful and very keen to make our stay satisfying. The dining hall was a Mexican style. The breakfast on both mornings was top notch. The Manager allowed us to leave our car in the car park all day on the date we checked out. We loved the Kilford Arms, Kilkenny. Thanks to all the staff. Jimmy Gollogly

have stayed here numerously over the years and always had great time..booked this time with work crew for night away..such good value..everyone raving about it and we will defo book again with lidl.breakaways..hotel was great..rooms have become a bit dated at this stage but clean and absolutely sufficient if you want lively night away..staff very good..loved new idea of concierge giving you rundown of hotel and directions from the beginning and lovely touch of water in the room etc...food excellent and certainly great menu for only package deal etc..girl in restaurant particularly friendly and efficient...will be staying again as always as you cant beat it for night in kilkenny...location location location!!!... Stayed for one overnight to meet with family and friends...couldnt fault location, hotel, staff etc...as long as you dont mind staying awake all night...only choose this hotel if you want to party.Great location and Car Park included. Ate in the Bar and food was very good. Overall I would stay again and would recommend it for location and food but not for a quiet weekend away or a family break.

We loved this hotel .Great for a mad weekend away . (not for a family with young kids. ). Every member of staff at this hotel was extremely professional and polite from the recepionist , bar staff , resturant staff and door men . Rooms and bathroom were spotless. We will stay here again , great value for money and geart location .Just 5 mins walk to city centre.

I am sorry to say but out of the Lidl breaks we have been on, this one was not so good, Our room was freezing so my husband went to reception where he was told she forgot to put our heating on, evening meal was a disaster, I was half way through my starter when we asked the waitress where my husbands starter was, she had forgotten to order it, I ordered the roast beef which was sour We were offered a free dessert but i could not eat as the taste in my mouth was vile, I will us Lidl breaks again, but will not stay in the Kilford arms hotel again..

Stayed for 2 nights B&B. Room spacious and clean. Double bed could do with a new mattress as on one side it was a bit lumpy. Staff very friendly and efficient. Breakfast was a bit slap dash. By the time we got through it, the food had gone cold. However microwave available if needed. Not huge selection of fresh fruit or different types of bread at breakfast. Had meal in the bar and food was excellent there. Overall enjoyed our stay. Hotel very central with own car park which was a plus.

The Kilford arms hotel,was one of the best hotels we have stayed in with the children, the room was very spacious everyone had their own space,it was clean and airy,which was much appreciated by my son who has asthma. The staff were very friendly and helpfull.We only had a short stay but we all said if we ever get to go to killkenny again we would stay there again it was so central and having its own car park was a big advantage.

We stayed for a three night break, hotel has an excellent location and free car parking, found staff in general to be friendly which are the only positives to be found. Overall the hotel was in a poor state of cleanliness in all public areas, corridors to bedrooms not clean and the bedroom itself has a bloodied handprint on the wall. The standard of breakfast was very poor, the hot plate was cold you had to heat your breakfast in the microwave, the selection of cereals was from lidl/aldi and was poor. The bar was dirty but the staff where friendly. Overall it was a very dissappointing stay and i would not go back the Kilford Arms again.

stayed for 2 nights B&B in early september. check-in was fast and efficient. room was fine but extremely warm and couldn't leave window open because of noise from outside, fan in room was a necessity.bathroom flooded after a shower.only had breakfast in the hotel, not impressed with it at all.poor selection of hot food,no cold meats,cheeses, was expecting a full breakfast menu.didn't bother with the hotel bar or nightclub. seemed to be a mecca for stag/hen parties,not my scene. wouldn't stay again even with an offer. 2 star rating because of size of room,built in iron,tea/coffe making facilities. Really nice welcoming hotel. Staff so nice and helpful. We booked two twin rooms and they offered us a family room to sleep 6 and it was lovely and cosy. It had one double bed and four single beds and two portable TV's. It was clean with lots of hangers which makes a change. Small hairdryer on the wall and soap and shower gel dispensers. The bars were excellent. Great choice as to which one to drink in and a nightclub, didn't go to that so can't comment but entrance was free for guests. The breakfast was carvery with excellent helpful staff again. The hotel is just a stones throw away from a lovely shopping centre. In essence yep we will be back

Nice reception area and obviously a busy hotel which is a good sign. The room was ok but poorly ventilated. A large standalone fan was provided, but air con would be better. Plenty of milk for the tea and coffee. WELL DONE!! too many hotels are mean with the milk. Breakfast was nice and service was good. Corridors were a tad noisy at night, probably due to the location of the hotel in Kilkenny City, however there was no noise from the nightclub or pub downstairs or even the street. I would have given a higher rating but for the stuffy room and being woken up by other guests in the corridor. parking was off street and reasonably secure and location was ideal.

Very nice hotel with exceptionally friendly and helpful staff, especially at reception. The exception was the bouncer at the night club part of it who was extremely unreasonable and it took ages to convince him that my partner was staying with me (she was not noted on the booking form) to the point that he locked me on one side of the door and her on the other. The only black mark against very good accommodation.

I really enjoed my recent stay in the Kilford Arms.It is in a great location beside the bus and train station. The castle, shops, restaurants and bars are all within walking distance of the hotel. The room was spacious and warm and the staff were friendly and helpful. I will stay here again if I am in the area.

stayed in this hotel for a night with seven friends, i organised my friends 40th party here, everyone in hotel were extremely helpful and polite, its the hotel to be in if you having any parties, hens or stags not for families or romance, breakfast grand and only payed 60 euros on lidl deals for bed breakfast and two course meal! bargin x

Kilford arms hotel is very central to all the great bars and shops of Kilkenny. Found the rooms basic with a stale smell( like it use to be a smoking room) Our check in was very efficient and staff were very pleasant. Our dinner was served by a very efficent polish guy and there was a great choice on their menus. We were also given a glass of wine with our dinner,complaints of the manager which was a nice touch. This hotel is great if your not looking to relax and sleep much but party and shop instead!!!! Car parking is free which is a added bonus and hotel is great value for money. I would return again.

we stayed mid-week and we cannot recomend the Kilford more highly. Its almost in the centre of Kilkenny, a few minutes from the train station, and offered excellent value. The staff were really friendly and the service excellent. They also have a great late night bar with an excellent beer garden (if you smoke like us). Having said that, I know a lot of their weekend business is of the stag/hen variety and we noticed a few of these ariving as we left. However I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the Kilford for a short break in the Marble City, just it might get a little ott at the weekend.

I stayed in the Kilford Arms for 1 night B&B and 1 evening meal but i was very disappointed with the food and would not eat there again, the room was clean but with a very small window and there was parties and music on both sides of us until early in the morning. The only fault i had with the hotel is after 12pm you could not get back into the hotel through the main entrance and had to use the door for the pub, this door was closed and on a dark street and i had to bang on the door and keep buzzing the bell for over 15 mins, I was own my own coming back to the hotel and this was a little bit scarey. Great value for money and will defo be booking with Lidl breaks in the future but not this Hotel.

The hotel is located in the centre of the town which is great. The room we got was lovely, a suite with 4 single beds and 1 double bed which we were delighted with, to be altogether. It cost us 39e per person which also included breakfast. Great value for money and will defo be booking with Lidl breaks in the future.

We stayed in the Kilford arms for 2 nights bed & breakfast recently and have to say we really enjoyed our stay. The Staff where very helpful and friendly and the breakfasts and lunch where lovely. The only thing we didnt really enjoy was the evening meal. However that said it wouldn't stop us staying there again. It is in a central location and the parking is free. The pubs and nightclub where great craic.
