Reviews for `George Boutique Hotel`

Padraic scored 1 / 5 on 24/01/2017

not accommodated in the George Boutique Hotel as booked due to a 'system failure" resulting in overbooking with subsequent non availability of rooms booked. We were however accommodated in the sister hotel "The Savoy" across the street and enjoyed a very comfortable night there instead.

Hotel right in the city center with easy access to parking. friendly staff and comfortable modern room. Food in the restaurant was good and freshly cooked breakfast in the morning. would stay here again

The George Boutique Hotel is my favourite hotel in Limerick. It is ideally located in the centre of Limerick City. The rooms are big, modern and very comfortable with all mod cons. The reataurant and bar are excellent with Di Vincenzo's menu serving original and authentic Italian dishes. My favourite part though is the Gin bar, where the friendliest of staff are always eager to assist, educate and offer tasters. The George will always be first on my list when travelling to this part of the country.

Was very disappointed with this hotel before we even arrived. They are guilty of false advertising at every step of the way. As they advertised babysitting services I called to arrange a babysitter - 4 calls later (long story) I was told they didn't offer this service and given a phone number to call direct which needless to say went to a voicemail that never got answered. Managed to get a babysitter myself and promised the kids an in room movie - again this service was advertised even cards in the room displayed the service. As I couldn't get it working I rang the front desk and was told the service had been discontinued. On both occasions I mentioned the false advertising and was met with an attitude that told me they couldn't care less. The final straw was the fact that the family room did not have a bath and I had to pay an extra €40 to use a room with a bath for one hour in order to bath my little ones. Needless to say we will not be returning nor recommending this hotel!

Really lovely hotel, spotlessly clean , with attentive staff

Reviewer14551998 scored 3 / 5 on 04/01/2016

The hotel was clean, warm & comfortable but our shower wasn't working and we had to contact reception about three times before the issue was resolved and only got to shower on the 2nd night of our 3 night stay. We were overcharged in the restaurant in error and when we brought it to their attention it was refunded immediately and they were very apologetic. I felt with both issues an offer of a drink on the house or some small gesture would have gone a long way. The staff were pleasant to deal with and the hotel was located right in the city and was very convenient.

We stayed in the GBH last week for one night and we really enjoyed the night there. We arrived at 2:30 and were made feel very welcome from the outset. The room was perfect for the two of us and well equipped. I liked that the room temperature was just right as hotel rooms can be too hot. We ate in Da Vincenco's restaurant in the hotel and Vincenzo himself made a point of greeting us who we arrived for our meal that evening. We has spent the afternoon touring/shopping in Limerick City Centre and the hotel local is ideal as the hotel is very central. Car parking is very nearby in Howleys Quay and the overall cost for 24 hours was only €7.50 which is the maximum charge for a 24-hour period. The hotel was buzzing with people coming and going and also a wine-tasting event held the evening we stayed there. When we were checking out the general manager happened to be at reception and he asked for our feedback on our stay. We said we would be back and we genuinely meant it - it's a great location and nice friendly staff throughout.

Had a great stay here. Stayed 3 nights, hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. Room was very comfortable and clean. Food in the restaurant was excellent, so good we ate there every night. Breakfast was very good also. Only down side was the wifi in the room was a bit hit and miss. Highly recommend staying here and eating in the restaurant.

Liam scored 4 / 5 on 17/05/2015

We really enjoyed our stay except for the noise from the street on the second night. I think it was students shouting and roaring. I had asked for a quiet room but there are probably none away from such a busy area. The staff were exceptionally helpful and efficient. There was a slight mix up with the receptionist on arrival she did not seem to think we were entitled to dinner on both evenings but that is what I booked and paid for. I am only giving you my true findings so it may help you but I could find no fault with the room, the food or the staff. Thank you.

I would highly recommend The George Hotel. The staff are extremely courteous and friendly. The Twin room although quite small was very clean and comfortable. The food in the restaurant was amazing. I would definitely stay there again.

The hotel was a nice hotel , WAY smaller thou then what id expected!!! the food was lovely as where the staff.. but its a couples hotel not for children, also we had booked a family room and requested a cot no cot when we arrived it did come later but all we got was a double and one single that the 2 girls shared!! i taught a family room was always 2 doubles.. That was disapointing.. Stairs or lift is needed to get up 2 hotel And NO CAR PARK They pay ur nyt fee, but ur still caught for €7.50 {if not more as them car parks are crazy prices. As i said food and staff nice,

Really enjoyed our stay and will certainly recommend. Room was clean, comfortable and warm. Very central location. Only drawback was the parking issue but once known in advance it can be planned into the budget. Will be back!

This was our second stay at this hotel and I must say this time round was a lot better than our previous visit which was during the summer. The staff were so friendly and helpful, the dinner and breakfast was beautiful. The room was clean and warm. There is no parking available on the hotel grounds but there is a car park around the corner which is perfect location for anyone. I would have no problem returning to this hotel and would recommend it to anyone.

I want to award 4.5 STARS Stayed as a family for 2 nights - the hotel was very busy during our stay but this in no way detracted for the quality of the stay Firstly the room provided to us was excellent - quiet, spacious and comfortable Justin the restaurant manger was so helpful even planned our meal times in advance of arrival to facilitate our requirements as he knew the restaurant was so busy - his attention to detail, and advance planning is commendable in my view - many thanks The value for money was very good and the food was very good We will return for another visit The hotel has no direct parking which is mildly inconvenient but they have satisfactory arrangements with nearby car parks The hotel is very central in limerick To all staff keep up the good work

Jackc scored 3 / 5 on 03/12/2013

Room comfortable but was noisy from street. Parking is not free unless you want to sit in the dark in your car until half six and car park also charges after 10 in morning so you've got to budget for 7.50 euro per night. Christmas parties were in swing so no room was to be had in the reception area or bar for a drink. Wouldn't rush back.

Corky scored 4 / 5 on 26/11/2013

Hotel was good value for money. Meal at night was lovely & breakfast also. Room bit small but clean. Staff all very pleasant. Only bad thing I would have to say was that the smell of food in the hall to the bedroom area which was on the 6th floor was awful. Smelt like burning steak which seemed to come up through the vents.

Trish scored 4 / 5 on 04/11/2013

Very Comfortable hotel with a good atmosphere. Staff very friendly and our meal was lovely. Very central location and I would recommend it to family and friends.

This hotel is ideally situated in the centre of Limerick city. I was surprised to find we were able to book two single rooms (without paying a supplement),which were very clean and comfortable and surprisingly quiet for a city centre hotel. The staff were very friendly and welcoming, and we got a very good rate through the Lidl website.

Excellent hotel. Excellent location. Majority of the staff are very courteous and friendly. Only drawback is the price of parking - €7.50 or €8.50 depending on which car park you use. Will most definitely stay again and will recommend to others ;)

We really enjoyed our stay. The George is in a great location, the room was very comfortable, the staff were very pleasant and helpful. We had a dinner bed and breakfast deal that was really good value. Enjoyed both dinner and breakfast. Great bar and dining room overlooking o'connell street.

We went to the George Hotel in Limerick for my sister-in-law's birthday last weekend. there were 8 of us altogether. The hotel is lovely and the staff are excellent. The food was very good and well presented. The location of the hotel was great although it is a pity that carparking is not included in the stay. Even so, I would highly recommend both the hotel and the city. Well done and thanks!

Stayed there for one night with my friend. Was very impressed. The room was clean, modern and comfortable. We also had a 2 course evening meal and the food was excellent. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The check out staff even offered to hold our bags while we shopped after check out. Could not fault the place. Would say it would be an ideal hotel for a hen party.

Ew0122 scored 5 / 5 on 19/03/2013

Lovely hotel in a fab location right in the heart of Limerick - close to everything we wanted to be close to: shopping and night-life! But despite the central location, the room was quiet and we got a great night's sleep! Staff were friendly and helpful throughout our stay. We had lunch in the restaurant and it was very nice. Would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Limerick.

Lovely hotel to stay in, Limerick really does not stand up to its reputation, we had a wonderful time. The staff are friendly and helpful; the hotel was smart and clean and it is very centrally located. Only down side was the breakfast. It was a bit bland and selection limited. But it did what it says on the tin, “fed you. I would definitely recommend this hotel; it had a great buzz and is only a hop skip & a jump from Cork City. Will be going back, that’s for sure.

We stayed at the George Boutique Hotel for a two-night break in Limerick over mid-term break. We had never been to the city before, and were very happy with the location of the hotel: it is so central to shopping districts and great nightlife. The staff were very friendly, helpful and professional, especially the gentleman on reception at our check-in and check-out. The hotel itself is beautiful, very clean, warm and comfortable rooms, relaxing lobby area, great choice at breakfast for full Irish or continental, lovely bar and great cocktail menu! I didn't check out the spa on the second floor, but I noticed good deals advertised around the lobby. As the hotel is on one of the main streets in the city, there is a little traffic noise in the morning, but nothing earplugs wouldn't sort out, if you need them. Overall, we would have no hesitation recommending this hotel and we will definitely be visiting again...hopefully in better weather!

Brilliant Hotel, central to shops and night clubs. Staff were very courteous and friendly, no problem too big for them, very helpful and informative. Rooms are decorated beautifully. Customers safety is a priority as you have to use your key to use the lifts. Bar and restaurant food and atmosphere is brilliant. Have a brilliant weekend. Rating 5 Star

Hotel staff very welcoming. The room was clean and well decorated. The shower did not work great. The room temperature was perfect unlike alot of hotels. We had dinner in the restaurant, the service was very good and the food was nice. Very central location. More information in the room about the nearest bars/nightlife would have been helpful. There was entertainment in the hotel bar that night which was very good and there was a great crowd there with a good atmosphere.

I did not enjoy my stay at this hotel as we wer charged extra for our dinner which was inclusive in our stay,we were charged more because we got steak but was not notified when ordering and also they would not serve us a drink at the bar and we showed them a passport and drivers license! it was ridiculous as we are 20 years old!

I stayed for 2 nights and I couldn't fault this hotel. It is in a great location. Its very clean and the rooms were lovely. The boufet breakfast was also superb. The only thing I would fault the hotel on is the parking. Its a pity they don't have their own carpark or a better deal with the two carparks mentioned on site. I parked in the Dunnes Stores car park which was literally only around the corner but was a little pricy.

2 Star Rating. Central Hotel which was the main reason for booking. Twin Room was quite small but clean but breakfast left a lot to be desired. Buffet may have been cooked since the early hours and was only luke warm, bacon looked like it was boiled, scrambled egg the only option, no fried or poached. Chips in a container with halves of tomatoes????? Chips for breakfast (not sure about that one). Toast had to be made in the small household toasters so by the time toast was done the food was cold. Waiting for coffee and had to ask again for it, no cutlery on the table. The whole breakfast situation left a lot to be desired, but I guess you get what you pay for. Probably wont go back there again.

Tracey scored 5 / 5 on 20/03/2012

This Hotel is perfectly located in Limerick City Centre. The rooms are beautiful and spotless. The staff are very nice and helpful. The restaurant in this hotel is really nice. They also offer discount parking at a near by car park. I must say there were 5 of us and we all couldn't fault this hotel. We will be definitely coming back to The George, and would highly recommend it for the quality and the price.

We stayed here on a Friday night and were kept awake to the sound of an all night party in the bar just below our room. The manager on duty was very obliging though and moved us to a quieter (ish) room. Apparently Friday and Saturday nights are party nights there so make sure to book a room in a quiet area. The rooms were clean and pleasant. The dinner and breakfast were good for the money, and the location is excellent. But due to the noise factor, I wouldn't stay there again. This is a hotel for a group of people heading out in Limerick for the night.

Siobhan scored 3 / 5 on 07/02/2012

We use Lidil breaks for all our weekends away now...thank you again! The George Hotel is in a very central location, walking distance to everywhere in Limerick city. The rooms were fab and very clean. We stayed on a Saturday night and breakfast was served until 11am. The staff were so friendly and no request was a problem. When I saw on the website 'Girls night away' packages I asked if we could have a room in a quiet area of hotel....this was far from reality. We were woken at 330am with parties going on in rooms beside and above us! Dont get me wrong, I love a party, but when you are woken with noise until 645am Its not so nice. This is why I only gave 3 stars.

Very happy with look and location of hotel. Stayed at the hotel in Feb 2011, got a very good B&B rate. However, we were on the 6th floor and the music from the live band on a Friday night kept us up until about 1am.

Very pleasant stay. An extremely central and well located hotel. Very comfortable inside and exceedingly pleasant and welcoming staff. The meal was also extremely good. The restaurant cum bar seems to be a very lively and popular local spot of a Saturday night so don't expect too much of a quiet one! There was a bit of an error on the bill for the meal (an added bottle of wine and a steak supplement) which was rectified without a quibble on checkout. All in all highly recommended - we'd definitely stay there again.
